@MiniRetireMatt Where can a teacher get 3 months of PTO? We get 3 days in my district. My summer 3 months aren’t paid. And I’m still expected to do meetings and work to prepare for the next school year. I’ve worked in several districts and states and it’s all the same.

The teacher making $125k per year, with 3 months of PTO, and 35 hour work weeks Is better off than... The attorney making $250k per year, with 1-2 weeks of PTO, and 60+ hour work weeks It's not even close

I have multiple associates degrees. One of which is an engineering mostly based on math .And I’m much more qualified to teach my child than those lazy , barely educated, barely literate, excuses for a teacher that are in the public school system .Many of those teachers can barely speak proper English much less grade an English paper , much less do any type of physics . Parents with degrees should be allowed to collect the same income at home that the public schools pay those useless public school teachers and stay home with their children and teach their children actual academics.

If you as a parent make the decision to homeschool your children, and your county spends $15,000 per student in public schools, you deserve the FULL $15,000 for your child.

@HockeyThinkTank Doesn’t make any sense to me why it seems like everywhere but MN does tryouts in the spring for the next season. You have no idea how much time someone will put into the off season to improve or how much they could grow and get stronger. Why pick the teams now?

COACHES: Here's a power play tactic I'd love to see more teams employ. Carolina has a player below the goal line on the opposite side you usually see. This allows him the ability to skate toward the net with the puck on his forehand ready to make a play. In this clip he finds the bumper player for the goal. If there's no play he can skate it around the net to find the bumper or look for other options like a player coming down the dot line or a cross-crease pass to a player sliding down to the back door. Great job by Ehlers and something to think about for your PP set up!!

@robbystarbuck As a public school teacher for 17 years, I have never met a homeschool student who is on par with their public school peers academically. Everyone who has stepped foot in a public school has been grade levels behind their peers.

Homeschooled kids are going to run America in 10-15 years and really that means they’ll run the world. 80% of the homeschool kids I’ve come across are light years head of their peers in public and private school. Way more curious, thoughtful and well read. Incredible shift.

Something fascinating is happening in education right now. I recently went down a rabbit hole researching homeschooling, and the data is fascinating. Research from the National Home Education Research Institute shows homeschool students typically score 15–25 percentile points higher on standardized tests, and about 78% of peer-reviewed studies show homeschool students outperforming traditional school students academically. But what really surprised me was seeing it firsthand. I recently ran a financial literacy course through Classical Learner, and I was blown away by the students. One 14 year old was running a business with nine employees. And I began teaching a 9 year old the Buy Borrow Die strategy. Can you imagine learning a strategy used by billionaire families to build wealth… at age nine? What I saw with these homeschool students is that they weren’t memorizing facts for a test. They were thinking, building, and solving real problems. This ties directly into neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself during childhood based on experience and learning environments. Research from Harvard University, Stanford University, and MIT shows that learning environments focused on problem solving and curiosity produce stronger long-term outcomes than education built primarily around memorization. Which leads to a simple observation. Students raised in environments that encourage independent thinking, entrepreneurship, and curiosity develop skills that compound over time. And that creates a massive competitive advantage for life. The great news for America is that roughly 7.8% of American children are now being homeschooled, and that number continues to rise as families look for education that prioritizes curiosity, entrepreneurship, and independent thinking. Happy Friday! A rare funny post from me - Teachers - what words do you pronounce differently or change to avoid the entire class laughing hysterically and losing all focus? Mine were always the planet Uranus and the term Pianist. Can’t wait to hear yours! 😂😂😂

To all the Supermarkets and big commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'....... You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Today I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. • I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you. • If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine. • Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities. YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING. YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU. Signed ......All of us People we need to share this statement its basically about PROFIT to the stores AND putting People out of a JOB....!!! ~ unknown author ~

The @MountainWest has failed our Boise State women’s volleyball team. These women have worked too hard for too long to be denied their right to fair, safe competition. We must fight to protect women’s sports.

BREAKING: Following a victory over Utah State at the Mountain West Volleyball Championships tonight, #BoiseState advanced to the semifinals where they were scheduled to play SJSU. The Broncos won't play the match, effectively ending their season. Here is a statement from the school: "The decision to not continue to play in the 2024 Mountain West Volleyball Championship tournament was not an easy one. Our team overcame forfeitures to earn a spot in the tournament field and fought for the win over Utah State in the first round on Wednesday. They should not have to forgo this opportunity while waiting for a more thoughtful and better system that serves all athletes."

Shout out to all the kids playing JV and working hard to get better to earn a varsity spot. This is actually how it works. JV is not an embarrassment. Its development. It’s ok to spend a year or two on JV before making a varsity team.
