@TheRealBATTIE @streetsavvyGMG It’s simple and straight to the point I’ve also asked the player, or parent, that thinks they should be starting to tell me who they think they’re better than. If they beat them in 1 on 1’s, they get the job. If they lose, it’s to the back of the line

@streetsavvyGMG I invite them to practice. Let them see their kids compete against kids that have bought in and worked hard all summer. Usually results in them shutting up real quick

@CoachSSage @streetsavvyGMG Believe it or not high school football isn’t all that matters to some people. I know it’s all you got but you can’t push that on others.

@CoachSSage 2 a days?! No program should be doing 2 a days. Now that, that I can’t get with. Now that’s doing too much..

It’s 2026.. what program is still doing 2 a days????
Gwok@DontAskGwok

@CoachAdrian_ I missed out on a several things I worked all summer for because coach wanted to have 2 three and a half hour practices during 2 a days. We had more surgeries than wins that year and the winter sports had depleted numbers because they got hurt during football season.

@CoachAdrian_ I have 4 kids. Happily married. Run the strength and conditioning programs for all sports, 5th grade-Varsity. AND I still have time to spend with my family… and I workout daily We all have the same 24 hours. Some people have no clue how to plan their day. Schedule. Your. Shit.

No, that’s dumb. Flat out dumb.. if you can’t find time for your family with workouts being no earlier than 5:30 am and no later than 12 pm, that’s on you. Have Friday Saturday and Sunday to lock in with the fam..

@CoachAdrian_ I love being at practice. However I love being at home with my family as well. With your logic, I could say to you, “it’s starting to feel like some of you coaches don’t have wives or kids or anyone to hangout with outside of your job.” See how silly that sounds?

@FBWO_ That makes sense to me! I tell my line that within 5 yards, no one can be faster. That’s all explosive movement. If we pull, that’s usually 5-7 yards. You have to MOVE

@CoachSSage I led a program back in 2024. We tailored all work to the physical demands of each group. Big skills ran 20s, Mid Skills ran 40s, Skills ran 60s. On “all out” days we chopped all three by 10 yards. But to say not at all is ludicrous.

We were just told (in a district wide coaches meeting) “research shows linemen don’t need to sprint.”

@LandonTengwall I’m very technique heavy. I’ve worked with, and had as a player, coaches that spend the whole time doing play review But, if technique is shit, you can’t execute the scheme effectively Do you have any drills you like?

@LandonTengwall 100% Driving off your opposite foot is my #1 coaching point! Some high school kids have a hard time understanding that. We do a ton of initial work from a kneeling position. Drive off that foot, strike low, lift Hips control everything, but feet have to stay with you

I’d say the coaching point would be to make sure you are driving flat and away from the direction you want to go. That’s the most optimal way to move. And then the next thing is that “step” should be striking back and down underneath your hip. It’s not necessarily about smaller powerful steps it’s more about producing force. But I agree, run game is about setting your angles and accelerating on said angle For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Which means that the most optimal way to move is to push the ground flat and away in the exact opposite direction in which you want to go

@benny_thejet_30 @coachwwest Correction. SOME kids will get recruited to go play at private schools that have connections to D1 programs No D1 program is recruiting at your 9u basketball game. Sorry

@CoachSSage @coachwwest Not true at all. In basketball, by 9U you have the best players in the country whom will all go D1 and some will go pro.

@Coach_Q23 I’ve seen A LOT of physical and aggressive kids made to look REALLY silly against kids that were light years ahead technically
