In college they get 6 days rest In the minors they get 4-6 days rest In MLB they get 4 days rest In high school we give kids with growth plates open with not great routines defined and we create chronic workload on 3-5 days rest. Then we ask why do they get hurt.

On my ride home from my sons Little League baseball practice last night, I started pondering why I care so much about youth baseball. Like, what is grown ass man like me dedicating so much time into something as simple as youth baseball? My reasoning boils down to 3 core elements: 1. I love the game of baseball. My soul is intertwined with it. Hitting, fielding, competing, being part of a team, the smell of fresh cut grass… just being on a baseball field feels like home. It makes me feel alive. 2. I love helping people. I am helper. There’s an indescribable joy I feel when witnessing a young player blossom under my watch. If you've coached long enough you can probably relate. 3. Baseball is hands down the best game for developing essential life skills. I wouldnt be half the man I am today if it werent for: ⚾The years of competing ⚾Having tough conversations with coaches ⚾Navigating the complexities of team dynamics ⚾Dealing with heartbreaking losses ⚾Championships I will never forget. Not to mention, to this day, my best friends in the world are my High School baseball friends. So yes, for me, this isn't just a cause; it's a crusade. I dream of a world where my son, and every child, can drink deeply from the well of experiences that baseball offers - to know the joy, the pain, the camaraderie, and the personal growth that comes hand-in-hand with the game. But the path there is packed with challenges. The current state of youth baseball is troubling, a tangled mess of potential stifled by systemic issues that seem insurmountable. The frustration is real. Like me, you probably see the flaws, clear as day, but the solutions seem just out of reach. Yet, there is hope! In the face of overwhelming odds, we can make a difference - one community at a time. By educating ourselves, and by stepping up to lead by example, we can spark a change that ripples outwards. Imagine, if each of us could instill just a fraction of our passion and vision into our communities, what a world we could build. A world where youth baseball isn't just a game, but a legitimate vehicle for helping kids live their best life. Together, we can turn the tide. For the love of the game, for our children, for the future… If we all do our own little part, I believe we can reshape youth baseball.
