Successful people aren’t deterred by inconvenience. They aren’t swayed by motivation or lack thereof. They’re driven by their standards. They choose discipline over motivation. They choose what they want most over what they want now. It’s choosing long-term vision and committing to the habits that lead to success, no matter what. It’s a choice. You control what you decide to commit to and how you show up. I define accountability as, “we do what we say we’ll do.” It’s being accountable to what you committed to. If you committed to a task or a goal, it’s showing up with actions every single day, regardless of how you feel. It may be inconvenient in the present, but it’s how you become successful in the long run. It’s your choice. By led by commitment or be led by feelings. The result is ultimately on you. Live with the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. Successful people choose the former.

Your “why” is what fuels you. It must be internally motivated. If it’s based on external outcomes, it will fade when you fall short of those outcomes. Your “why” must be bigger than yourself. It should drive you everyday to get better and to overcome all obstacles and adversity. When things get tough, remember why you started.

Work in the dark. What you do in the dark is revealed under the bright lights. Who you are in anything is who you are in everything. Your character & successes can be built by what you do when no one’s looking. It is built outside of games and practice. It’s built in the quiet, dark, mundane days. Jesus constantly went out alone to pray. He built away from others and recognized that what He did in solitude was extremely important. We are called to do our best, no matter the situation. (Colossians 3:17, 23) Work in the dark. Win in the dark. Then win in the light.

Keep Your Fork. The best is yet to come. Failures and setbacks are a part of the journey of life. They are unavoidable. How do we overcome them? By remaining hopeful. Without hope, all is lost. We must remain positive about the vision for what is ahead. The battle is won in the mind first. If you’re not positive about the vision, regardless of circumstances, no one else will believe in it or follow the plan. Understand that failures and setbacks are opportunities for growth. Learn from them, but look ahead with a positive mindset. Be a hope-dealer and inspire others to join for the ride.

How bad do you want it? If you want it, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse. Find solutions, not problems! It Takes What It Takes!

These 2 go hand-in-hand this morning. Your attitude sets the tone for the day. You can either choose to be positive and be open to receive the day, or you can be negative and choose to respond & react negatively to what you can’t control that comes your way. Choose joy. How do you choose? By getting up and having quiet time with the Lord. Let Him set your tone and attitude for the day by entrusting your day to Him. Let Him transform your heart in the morning and align it with His peace and love. Starting your day with Him first gets your heart right and helps you choose to have a joyful attitude to carry you through your day. Attitude is a choice. Choose joy.

Using a scouting rubric when watching film is critical. Not every coach is taught what details to focus on, especially early on. This small, easy-to-use rubric helps position coaches quickly evaluate and grade opposing defensive players without overcomplicating the process.
