Scheduling news: Saint Louis and High Point have signed a home-and-home starting next season, sources told CBS Sports. SLU will host Nov. 15, HPU hosts in ’27-28. Really good mid-major matchup for two teams that’ll be preseason league favs/expected to make it back to the NCAAT.

Source: The 12 games for the 24 teams in the expanded NCAA Tournament will be labeled "the opening round" when the tournament expands in 2027. The "First Four" is dead. The first round will remain that opening Thursday/Friday.

More: Opening round will be split between at-large + auto bids, expanding out current First Four format. All 16-seeds and half the 15s will be slotted into the Tuesday/Wednesday of the opening round. The other half will be a mix depending on team quality. 11s, 12s and maybe a 13.

The men's + women's NCAA Tournaments are expected to formally pass approval for expansion to 76 teams in May, sources told CBS Sports. The move to 76 would mean 52 teams would auto-slot into the main bracket and 12 games for 24 teams Tues/Wed for a rebuilt opening round. Story TK
