@BostonBiceps_ That’s a huge weight, for sure. Wishing you both the best of luck. Stay positive and be strong for him. He’s going to do great and so are you! Nerve racking likely doesn’t begin to describe the feelings you have.

Tomorrow is my son’s eye surgery He’s my best friend and my biggest supporter - and biggest motivation I’ve been able to ignore it, but now that it’s here I’m a nervous wreck I can’t wait to have it behind us I’ll be a bit quiet tomorrow (I am most weekends anyways) but will report how he’s doing I love him so much and he’s my entire reason for being, the weight of responsibility and the thought of something going wrong are pretty heavy on me - but I know we are doing the right thing and what has to be done. Now I’m just praying for the best results

@plasticboss This is what I’m leaning towards. The idea of being fully in control of my work is so foreign, yet massively appealing of course! I guess I’ll have to determine what types of investing to focus on and find some people to connect with.

@Camp4 You’re a smart guy who contemplates, so how do you tune out the noise? Block/mute text phrases on X? Hard to strike the balance of being somewhat informed without letting it define your personality.

We carry all the world’s problems in our pocket—this app is the #1 offender. It’s not healthy for individuals or good for society. Too many people put too much energy into far-off problems they don’t understand and can’t impact. Meanwhile, their own life is a mess. Want to change the world? 1) Ignore the noise. 2) Start at home, where you can have the greatest impact. 3) Work outward.
Tim Ferriss@tferriss

I’m going to propose that you develop an uncanny ability to be selectively ignorant. Ignorance may be bliss, but it is also practical. It is imperative that you learn to ignore or redirect all information and interruptions that are irrelevant, unimportant, or unactionable. Most are all three. Lifestyle design is based on massive action—output. Increased output necessitates decreased input. Most information is time-consuming, negative, irrelevant to your goals, and outside of your influence.

@CoastalClarkey What do you like? What are your hobby's? Are you familiar with pricing on any certain categories? Its much easier and more fun to buy and sell items you have a vested interest in and already know the market for.

@ChadNedohin @MarkJCarney Is that the only other option? Of course not. How about reducing government spending? That’s much less palatable politically though.

We’re saving you money at the pump. Starting next Monday, we’re suspending the federal Fuel Excise Tax on gasoline and diesel across Canada. You’ll save up to 10 cents per litre from April 20 until Labour Day.

@ChadNedohin @MarkJCarney Hi Chad. Are you at all concerned about the inflation that borrowing funds to “pay” for this tax reduction will yield? This will result in a hidden inflation tax that strikes the poorest the hardest. But go for it: celebrate the ‘win!’

Yesterday I went out to my rural place, which has been suffering from my neglect for the last decade as I pursued other dreams. It''s time to get back to it. There are some things that need a lot of work, but it isn't a lost cause. There are some things that will make it possible to get back on track.

From gas prices to supply-chain disruptions, BC is feeling the impact of the war in Iran. We’re creating a new cross-government task force to support people and businesses, in BC and scale up resources and planning to make sure we’re ready to respond as this situation evolves.

Maybe there is still time for me to do something good with the land that I spent over five years negotiating for, and felt so good about acquiring nearly 20 years ago, now. An awful lot has been done, both by me and by people who came before me, that makes it pretty unique as a project that can be fast tracked. And the rural Texas laws make it far more amenable to a sustainable building model than a lot of other places. My time on earth is not unlimited. I need to get organized.

→ Burns 2-3x more calories per minute than walking. You’re lifting your entire bodyweight against gravity with every single step. 20-30 min on the StairMaster = 60 min of walking in caloric output. → It’s basically low-level resistance training disguised as cardio. Full hip extension, knee drive, constant tension on glutes, quads, and calves. You’re getting a training stimulus while doing your cardio. Walking doesn’t do that. → Gets your heart rate into a productive zone in minutes. Walking takes 45-60 min just to accumulate meaningful cardiovascular work. The StairMaster has you at 130-155 bpm almost immediately. → Still low impact. Your feet never leave the platform. Easier on your joints than running or jogging, which matters when you’re in a deficit and recovery is already compromised. → The only real downside is local muscle fatigue in your quads, which can interfere with leg days if you overdo it. Program it on non-leg days, keep it to 20-30 min, and it’s the most time- efficient cardio tool you can use. If you’re short on time and trying to get lean, the StairMaster is a great choice.

Your favorite influencer is shitting on the stairmaster saying “just walk and be in a deficit!!” So many things to unpack but let’s start with the stairmaster being “dumb”

These are the people that shaped my existence They taught me the value of hard work. My dad was a Catholic school teacher for 48 years. He worked summers as a customs inspector to supplement our family. I often remember saying good bye to him as he went off in his uniform for his 4-12 shift. He did this for almost 20 years. My mom worked part time as an accounting assistant during the day and a department store at night. She then landed a full time job as an office manager for Lafarge Corporation. She was there for 22 years until she retired. They both often had side hustles going on also. They started a credit collection agency which lasted for a few years. This was on top of their full time jobs. They also both created eBay accounts when the website was launched. They were resellers before the term was used. My dad sold textbooks, coins, and other items. My mom sold yarn, collector Christmas houses, and anything else she thought was valuable. Now that they are both in a better place, I still hear their voices every day. Their advice, their encouragement, their unwavering love. No wonder I am who I am. They taught me integrity, honesty, and work ethic. I’m a reseller and always will be. The thrill of reselling will never go away in my mind. I was taught by the best ❤️ #reseller

I did manage to close on another Austin home sale this week. This one is going into what will be the third (and probably final) 1031 exchange in a series. The tax savings on this one started in 1993. I'm going to write another thread about the endgame for small RE investors. I'll add content as I have time between patients. 🧵

Disappointed to see Former Premier Jason Kenney (@jkenney) and Former Premier Campbell endorsing a candidate that wants to roll back progress on reconciliation. She is proposing to rewrite the Constitution and it will be detrimental to First Nations and all British Columbians.

Repealing DRIPA is essential. But it’s just the start. Today I’m releasing my plan to repeal DRIPA, protect private property, restore democracy and unleash prosperity in BC. We need to put British Columbians back in charge of their land, their laws, and their future. Check it out: WinForBC.ca/policies
