The five-second epistemology of the rules. They killed the man who read Descartes. They got the man who built the IRGC. Larijani wrote a book on Descartes. Not a survey. A critique. Naqd va barrasi-ye resaleh-ye qava’ed-e rahnamai-ye zehn-e Dekart. A critique of the Rules for the Direction of the Mind. The man who could argue with Western rationalism in its own language, in Farsi, for an Iranian academic audience. The man who understood the Western mind well enough to find its errors. The translator. The bridge. The one person in the Iranian system who spoke both philosophical languages simultaneously. He focused on Rule Twelve. The rule about how the mind’s faculties commit errors. Descartes claimed that only clear and distinct perception is true and everything beyond it is error. Larijani’s argument: even in mathematics — the domain Descartes considered the pinnacle of clear and distinct thought — this principle cannot be demonstrated within Descartes’ own system. It works only if you accept it as an axiom. An article of faith. The West’s foundational claim to knowing what is true is itself an unexamined assumption. The man who wrote that down was killed by a five-second targeting decision. The five-second epistemology killed the man who read Descartes and got the man who read Sun Tzu. One builds bridges. The other builds armies. One critiques the rules for directing the mind. The other directs the institution that mines the Strait. The replacement isn’t a downgrade of the same function. It’s a different function entirely. The diplomat and the architect. The translator and the builder. Both gone from one side of the table. Both now on the other. The handwriting was a eulogy for sailors. The book was a dialogue with the West. The missile ended both. The empire killed the man who understood it well enough to argue with its founding epistemology — who wrote an academic paper proving the Western mind mistakes its assumptions for knowledge — and replaced him with the man who spent forty years building the weapon the empire can’t defeat. Descartes’ first rule: accept nothing as true that you do not clearly know to be true. Larijani’s critique of Rule Twelve: you can’t even prove that rule inside your own system. The empire didn’t read the book. The Strait already knew.
