As impressive as AI is today, remember AI is not new. We’ve been working on it since the 1950s. We just keep moving the goalpost on what we call "magical."

This aired tonight to 1 billion people in China. A year ago these robots could barely wave a handkerchief, now they can do backflips and kung fu with nunchucks. Physical intelligence is the next frontier.

China is dominating the worldwide race for power: China now has a record 3.75 terawatts of power generation capacity. That capacity has doubled over the last 8 years. This is nearly 3 TIMES more than the US, which has ~1.30 terawatts of capacity. Furthermore, China has 34 nuclear reactors under construction, more than the next 9 countries combined. Nearly 200 other reactors are planned or proposed. At the same time, there are currently no large commercial nuclear reactors under construction in the US. The US must act now to keep up with China.

On second thought, as @AlaskaAir dismantles its @flySFO hub, and any hints of Virgin America and appealing to business customers are now distant memories, the soon-to-be leisure airline probably does support Honolulu. Good luck in San Diego though…

So folks in Honolulu have eyes wide open, the primary reason airlines merge is to reduce competition. My guess is Hawaiian brand doesn't survive the decade; say goodbye to narrow-body Airbuses, "regional HQ" will be gone, capacity trimmed. That's the playbook. @StarAdvertiser $HA

Alaska vs. Southwest in San Diego should be an interesting race to the bottom🍿 But @AlaskaAir saying there are only 4 Hawaiian islands? “By early summer, we’ll fly daily to all four Hawaiian Islands from San Francisco” 🤡

AI eats Internet Sewage at Reddit and get sick and/sued: “Reddit said it set a trap for Perplexity by creating a ‘test post’ on its site that could ‘only be crawled by Google's search engine and was not otherwise accessible anywhere on the internet’" I have the answer but they will do anything but ask me. Californians — time to wake tf up. This isn’t about bashing California or leaving it behind. It’s about fighting to save it — before it’s too late. Spoiler: we’re dangerously close. California should be the best place on earth to live, work, and build. All it takes is a return to competence, accountability, and common sense in leadership. Let’s take stock of what’s happened after years of delusional policies mixed with a pandemic of suicidal empathy. Homelessness: California has two-thirds (66%) of all unsheltered people in America — despite being just 11.7% of the U.S. population. Crime: Violent crime is up ~15% since 2018, aggravated assault up 31%, and vehicle theft up 29%. While much of the country saw declines last year, California moved the opposite way. Entertainment exodus: On-location filming in L.A. hit its second-lowest level ever in 2024, and Q1 2025 dropped another 22.4% year-over-year. Scripted film and TV drama output is now roughly half of its peak. Hospitality: Union contracts are driving double-digit labor-cost spikes — room attendants in SoCal hotels will earn ~$35/hr by 2027. Small hotels and restaurants are struggling to survive under the pressure. Wildfires: The 2025 SoCal fires destroyed or damaged ~20,000 parcels, wiped out 6–9,000 homes, and caused $30–50 billion+ in losses. Most of it was preventable — the result of gross negligence and mismanagement. Bottom line: People feel unsafe. Homelessness and drug abuse are rampant. Entire industries are fleeing faster than at any point in recent memory. And the cost of living keeps climbing. But there’s a playbook. Throw incompetent leaders out, replace them with good people. @DanielLurie is bringing accountability back to San Francisco. @NathanHochmanDA is reversing George Gascon’s reckless DA policies in LA. We need more like them — at every level of state and city government. And yes, I hope @RickCarusoLA runs again, because he can lead us out of this down-spiral. If we don’t mobilize and elect capable, pragmatic leaders, California will hit a point of no return. It’s now or never for this generation. Let’s save California.

R&D centers in Canada, Europe and India received a big boost on Friday. Already one executive on LinkedIn saying they will no longer expand tech offices in the U.S. If it's not obvious, the president's visa rule disproportionately harms small businesses.
