“I Didn’t Want Her Body To Waste” Says 21-Year-Old Man Remanded For K+lling And R@ping A 58-Year-Old Woman A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of a 21-year-old carpenter, Anthony Alabi, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over the alleged k+lling of a 58-year-old woman, Veronica Olaseni. Alabi was arraigned on a two-count charge of m¥rder and th+ft. During proceedings, he admitted to engaging in intercourse with the deceased, stating, “I didn’t want her body to waste, so I had intercourse with her corpse.” The presiding Magistrate, Temitope Adurota, declined to take the defendant’s plea, noting that the court lacks jurisdiction over the matter. She subsequently ordered his remand pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adebayo, told the court that the incident occurred on March 2, 2026, at about 2:30 p.m. in Iboropa-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area. She alleged that the defendant strangled the victim on her farm after she identified him while he was attempting to st£al. According to the prosecution, the defendant also stole items including an Infinix phone valued at N150,000, a cutlass worth N10,000, and an Access Bank ATM card belonging to the deceased. The defendant, who was not represented by counsel, reportedly confessed that he went to the farm to steal cashew nuts but att@cked the woman after being recognized. The case file has been forwarded to the DPP, and the matter was adjourned until June 6 for mention.
