Tonight, News Center Maine reached out to my team to let us know that all announced candidates will now be invited to participate in Thursday’s debate. I have accepted the invitation and am looking forward to having an exchange of ideas with the other candidates. Appreciate News Center Maine including everyone and making this a fair and open process as Democrats seek to find the best candidate to defeat Susan Collins this November.

I am committed to fighting for a new generation of leadership here in Maine and defeating Susan Collins this November. I'm not a career politician, and the fact that some candidates in this race weren't running for completely different offices last month shouldn’t prevent us from taking the debate stage. To date, I've applauded how the Maine Democratic Party has organized this open and fair process. The handling of this debate by Newscenter Maine isn't in line with the Party's high standards, and it’s antithetical to Graham Platner’s outsider movement. Instead, it reeks of the type of insider politics people are sick of. I applaud Troy Jackson’s call for us all to be included and urge Newscenter Maine to allow any candidate who submits their Declaration of Intent on the debate stage Thursday. I hope the other candidates who were invited to participate will do the same.

Yep. If you're a DHS bureaucrat or Republican chair of a relevant subcommittee, his might be a rare Dem statement you'll even bother reading.
Why should we care what a DHS bureaucrat or Republican chair of a relevant subcommittee thinks? Because they're the ones in charge right now. And if you want to change policy, you need to get the people in charge to listen.

While the investigation of the Biddeford shooting is not yet complete, it raises sufficient critical questions that I spoke with DHS Secretary Mullin last night and urged him to cease all non-urgent vehicle stops.

Look, I’m not from Maine so what do I know…but my guess is the cause of defeating Susan Collins wouldn't be helped by Dem elites & online liberal know-it-alls smugly insinuating that 150,000 Mainers who voted for Platner are all credulous rubes, Nazis and/or misogynists whose policy preferences should be ignored/mocked in the selection of a new Democratic Senate nominee.
But again, I’m not from Maine, so what do I know…

Maine deserves better than someone who put his public image before the safety of our Veterans. Too many of our heroes lost their lives under Nirav Shah’s watch as Illinois Public Health Director. I called for his resignation then, and I strongly oppose his run for Senate now.

We’ve proven right here in Maine that you can build a business that works for the employees, and works for the community. That is exactly the kind of accountability we need to bring to Washington.

@AnthonyMEmerson The fair point is that a politically-aware progressive looking for someone willing to shake up the system would have been all-in on Bellows...as Mamdani was...and that Platner wasn't is telling given his contemporaneous lefty Reddits. Suggests he wasn't really engaged at all.

To be fair, Platner was the Mainer and Zohran was just some kid from away. 23-year-old New York native Bowdoin student Zohran Mamdani is the last person Susan Collins' schtick about "investing in Maine" would've appealed to.
