I don’t think the sports world is ready for how many unexpected positive tests they are going to find if every athlete is tested. Especially anxious to see how this plays out in sports like women’s basketball, where genetic gender testing isn’t done If they are truly going to do genetic testing on every female athlete, guaranteed there will be unexpected positives that will have a major life impact in the athlete who may have had no idea.

@ColmThompson @wsbtv To hell with people that work out side 7 to 3:30. You folks are selfish as hell. I’m sick of being forced to get up at 4:30 instead for 5:30. DitchDST Fall Back & Forget It.

@BrianSuttererMD Within the WNBA? Oh come on. I don’t think every 18-25yo woman will have had genetic testing for causes of amenorrhea. I expect the WNBA to detect and pay attention. Absolutely. Not clear what your point is. Who is this “surprise” athlete?

🚨Report: The Georgia State Senate has passed a bill to move Georgia to the Atlantic Time Zone and observe year-round Daylight Saving Time, eliminating the need to change clocks twice a year. The change would require Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to approve of the change.

Pain on the outside of your hip is one of the most common problems I see in my practice. Walkers get it. Runners get it. People who've never been to a gym get it. For decades, we called it bursitis and injected it. We were treating the wrong thing.

my hot take is that there should be no time accommodations for a /standardized test/ ever if someone is blind? Yeah they get adjustments so they can literally take the test. But extra time is fake. No one should get extra time. It defeats the whole purpose of the test.
Daniel Buck, “Youngest Old Man in Ed Reform”@MrDanielBuck

Curious everyone's thoughts: Any student who receives accommodations receives a diploma and standardized tests scores with a flag noting that they got accommodations. A small counter-incentive to accommodation-nation, but something is better than nothing, no?

Bad news for the people in Georgia Georgia Senate Rams Permanent Daylight Saving Time Bill or changing to a new time zone In a 45-5 vote, the Georgia Senate has passed HB 154, the so-called "Georgia Sunshine Protection Act." The bill forces the governor to petition the U.S. Department of Transportation to shift the state from Eastern to Atlantic Standard Time zone. If approved, Georgia would observe Atlantic time year-round—effectively locking in permanent daylight saving time without needing congressional action. This is a terrible mistake. Please tell your governor to veto this bill We need to keep it on Eastern Standard time, not Atlantic Standard Time

This is a case study in institutional failure. This is someone who moved from a modest scientific career into administration and, as dean of basic science, presided over its decline. Resources were redirected into administrative expansion while the core scientific mission weakened. At the same time, he was in the middle of repeated controversies and lawsuits that targeted some of the institution’s most accomplished scientists. What is rarely discussed is how these outcomes are sustained. There is a small, tightly connected network within university administration that promotes and protects its own. People move from one institution to another, into more senior roles, with little scrutiny of their actual record. That pattern should be examined seriously. bu.edu/articles/2026/…

When TSA has been tested, it has failed to stop up to 80 percent of weapons smuggled through security. TSA to this day has never actually prevented a terrorist attack. There is not a single documented case of a terror plot foiled by TSA. On top of that, TSA was formed in response to 9-11, but 9-11 was not a failure of airport security. Airport security had basically nothing to do with it. So while this stand off over TSA funding continues, keep in mind that the agency shouldn't exist and is historically terrible at its job. We should privatize airport security again. Then it can't be used as a bargaining chip by politicians.

TSA is largely funded by a tax on every ticket. It adds $5.60 to every one-way ticket & $11.20 to roundtrips. Everyone in line right now is already paying the TSA fee, even for free reward travel. The government has previously diverted that money to the Treasury. Pay the agents.

TSA is a jobs program that justifies an overinflated budget without making us any safer and only making travel less humane and more inconvenient. They are the DMV of national security.
