@Commonconcrete

Grew up when the US map was colored in at least four colors, not two. Engineer, husband, dad, and loved by God, just like you.

@ShadesOfRani I would consider funding them if they adopted a more truthful name, such as “Nations United in Spiteful Disdain of the United States”.

@ImNoBetterThanU @Toneskeee Hmm. Interesting philosophical debate. So what color do I see in a sealed pitch dark room at the bottom of a coal shaft at midnight? I would say: none, because the eye perceives nothing about the room. You would say “black” because perceiving nothing is indeed a perception?

@tunatweets I think Zechariah is an awesome name, nickname Zeke! (It means “God remembers”, but that has nothing to do with how cool it sounds). 😃

@Commonconcrete I mean, maybe it’s because you don’t hear it anymore, but if my name was Zechariah, I wouldn’t name my kid after myself, either 😂

@SbKeller85972 @PMurany @May_Roma LOLZ. Just to be clear, do you think the shot of the little girl chugging from the carton was a legit recommendation for people to emulate, or a comical device like the neighbor’s arms falling off, employed to make the commercial more memorable?

@PMurany @Commonconcrete @May_Roma Why are y'all pretending the CMPB didn't openly advocate for increased consumption!? The official purpose was to "increase fluid dairy consumption in general public and Hispanic communities". You wanted a vid, I gave you one. It's humorous so it didn't count now? gmab

@CountKylt @tanomuzeA I used to follow this—it’s basically correct. But I’ve prospered in my career and have more money so I now give 20% for service that isn’t blatantly terrible. Also take into account whether the dining room is understaffed; waiters can’t help that.

@tanomuzeA Tipping is a reflection of service. 10% is respectable, 15% if the service was professional. 20% if they went above and beyond during the meal. 20%+ is reserved for unforgettable service. It is rare for that to happen, but when it does I make sure they are well compensated.

@PMurany @SbKeller85972 @May_Roma Yup. If there was such an ad, somebody should post the YouTube link. The ads only showed people drinking milk from a glass, maybe having a milk mustache, and they’d follow with the slogan: “Milk: It does a body good”. That’s it. I was there, and I remember.

@May_Roma Actually, there was a huge ad campaign in the 90's by the Dairy industry to get people to drink more milk. They equated drinking milk with growing strong. It was very successful. Looking back, it's now criticized because milk is high in cholesterol and it's not good to overuse.

That’s it, I’m coming out in favor of boob jobs. Think about it: you do ONE THING in your youth and you can dramatically increase your attractiveness for the rest of your life. It’s ~5-10k, cheap and safe for plastic surgery. And, while every other beauty thing we do requires ongoing effort—I work out every day, I do shit to my hair and skin every day—this is one and done and never worry about it again. It’s like the IUD of beauty. (Also, you can get away with being fatter if you have breasts: your waist will look slimmer by comparison.) If you're young and slim, congratulations, you're probably already attractive, but there's obvious low-hanging fruit you're not picking

@tunatweets There’s a fine line between courage and stupidity. Consider Cristobal Colombo halfway through the first Atlantic crossing. No hope of rescue, mutinous muttering in the crew.

@tunatweets Meh. Dopey. But it really isn’t new. In Luke 1:13 God’s angel tells Zechariah to name his unborn son John (later the baptist). When the baby comes (Luke 1:58), the relatives complain to mom Elizabeth that they should name him after his dad. Zech straightens ‘em out. 😃 ⚡️

@Commonconcrete Millennial in that it happens to Millennials? Yes. There are close family members of ours whose own parents groused about the names they chose. Some people do choose weird names, but even traditional ones get pushback for being “frumpy” or “old-fashioned.”

@tunatweets Space travel has always been fraught with peril, especially the “getting up there” part. Every failure is a learning opportunity, but it comes at a cost. The astronauts understand the risk, but they go anyway. That’s the kind of people they are: courageous.

@angelabigail3 Easter is celebrated by Christians primarily, yes. However, it’s also celebrated by all who fear the evil bunny who turns nonbelievers into chocolate eggs. You don’t have the evil bunny in Japan?

Thanks Man! I can't take too much credit, copying and adapting other's designs for my own usages. Fingers crossed it should get me running water year round. The volume of the tank and it being on the south side, should prevent it from freezing solid, maybe the side-walls and top a bit, but if I suspend my water-pickup in the middle I should be able to have running water year round. I plan to heat tape and wrap and insulate the pipe that will come from the tank into the cabin.

So here's my plans for my rainwater collection system. The First Flush chamber has a narrowed opening at the top and a ball inside it. When rain starts, the first few gallons that initially come off the roof, containing the most debris/pollen/bird-'stuff', will fill that chamber. Once that dirtiest water is captured, it floats the ball to the top and closes that opening, diverting the now cleaner roof water towards the tank. On the inside of the tank at the end of the pipe there is a T to divert the flow-force to the sides of the tank, so as not to cause "stirring", because all tanks will form some sort of sediment layer. At the base of the first flush chamber, is a slow drip nozzle, so after rain events are finished, the chamber slowly empties, ready to catch the next dirty initial water again. In the winter, I will swap out the first flush for a straight 90, because there's less 'debris' to worry about and the first flush would freeze and crack.

$220 worth of stuff from Lowes and I think I'm ready to start putting my rainwater collection system all together. Had to pause. Job site supervisors arrived.

I don’t even know how, as a parent, you go about fixing your life, punishing the child, but also having a meaningful discussion without driving the kid to suicide for the ruin he’s wrought. (If this is true; AFAIK Google doesn’t respond to help tickets ever)
