@itsmehambone69 I dunno, you're the one who thinks it reveals that you are the hero even though that doesn't happen. Every old character mistakes you for the hero and KoRL corrects them and then you have to spend the back half of the game doing busy work expressly because you aren't the hero.

@itsmehambone69 Yeah, so then which is it? Does the game try to lie and tell you a different character you aren't playing as is the hero? Or does the game let you do every hero thing and then say it was someone else? Neither of those works as a twist because they're not convincing.

@itsmehambone69 No, you're specifically not the hero in that game. You're also playing the same character all the way through. Where's your twist if a game says, "Oh, you know this non-playable character? THAT'S Link," and later reveals that the main character was the hero the whole time?

@ComplicitOwl It literally already happened in wind waker. You don't know you are the hero til you are told in hyrule underwater.

@itsmehambone69 Can you, though? Because at that point you've spent the entire game playing the non-hero going through hero trials and then the game goes, "You aren't that character anymore since they aren't the hero," and leaves you confused as to why the hero would even matter for this one.

@ComplicitOwl The best part about the kidnapping narrative is you can introduce that narrative pretty late into the game.

@itsmehambone69 The final plot twist comes near the start of the story? That's not much of a plot at all, sounds more like one cutscene.

@StormslayerDev That would actually be a solid zelda plot. Girl thinks she is reincarnated version of link. Humble best friend turns out to actually be reincarnation of link, final plot twist comes when she is kidnapped by Gannon and shown to be a reincarnation of Zelda.
