@UcheMaryOkoli Don't feel badly, it's completely natural for your mind to wander. The best thing to do is to read the prayers and scripture readings the night before and contemplate them a bit. Then you will more fully immersed in the liturgy. Universalis has a good app for this.

Catholics in the house, I have a question.
So during Mass, my mind usually just wanders off. I get distracted very easily.
And I feel guilty about it.
How do I stop these distractions, please??
It is almost like I can't control it.
Please help. 🙏

Okay, answer me this. If the only exceptions being that the woman will die if the pregnancy isn't terminated or for rape or incest. Would you agree that abortion should be banned except in those specific circumstances? Because if you can't, then you believe that it should be allowed as a form of birth control. Because 99% of all abortions performed every year is elective. It is not for the life of the mother. It is not for rape. It is not for incest. It is elective. That is what we want to ban.

Should it be illegal to refuse to donate blood or a kidney to someone who’s dying, even if it’s a child? If a child in your family needed your kidney and you couldn’t or wouldn’t give it, should the law force you to or send you to prison?
If your answer is no because that violates bodily autonomy, a basic human right, then you already understand the argument for legal abortion. No one is required to give up bodily autonomy for someone else, no matter their age or relationship.
You might call it murder, but even laws around killing have exceptions. Self defense is legal when someone’s life is at risk. If abortion were banned in every situation, even when the mother’s life is in danger, then by that logic self defense shouldn’t exist either. But it does.
Most people wouldn’t accept losing their bodily autonomy or their right to stay alive, so it’s worth considering what it means to take that right away from others.

@xevekiah The problem is, the women aren't the ones doing the killing....it's the doctor. The doctors bodily autonomy is not threatened by a baby in someone else's womb. I don't want to police women's bodies, I want it to be illegal for doctors to kill unborn children.

I'm not going to argue against Baptism of Desire, but I feel like it's allowed a lot of parishes to put up too many obstacles between the people and the sacraments, using it as a safeguard. "Well, he died during his 5 year OCIA and we didn't baptized him, but he had desire."

@reginamrc6 They showed up for Mass at 5:00 AM to honor those who died in the Oklahoma City bombing...and then ran a marathon. I'd say these are more faithful than 99% of us.

Interestingly enough, in the golden tradwife years of the 50s and 60s, millions of women were prescribed amphetamines and tranquilizers just to get through the day.
Valium was so widely prescribed it was actually known as “mother’s little helper.”
It’s almost like stay at home motherhood and performative femininity aren’t guaranteed vehicles to happiness. 💁🏻♀️
