@chadpbyrne @Donosully1O @sseairtricity Regardless of the usage issue, the rate per unit is awful high, I'm paying 24.8 cent with bord gais. Pays to move around every 12 months, 10 min call to whomever. Loyalty means zilch anymore

@finburke1 @BobFlavin Last grower stopped in 2022 after steep rise in energy. There are some smaller market gardener/ farm market scale growers but peppers are slow to grow and like heat.

@Conflats @BobFlavin Didn't know we ever grew peppers in Ireland, was referring to cost/quality of Spanish peppers. Let's wait and see on food shortages.

@finburke1 @BobFlavin No pepper growers of scale left in ireland. 1 grower of chilli's that I know of. Imports are cheaper. Fert was up before war and went up further. Shortages may be seen in out of season imports but europe won't be going hungry

@Conflats @BobFlavin I go by the availability and cost of my capsicums and they've been expensive and not v good for a few years. Expecting food shortages due to a lack of fertiliser caused by the Iran war, even if Ireland had accidently stocked up ahead I've still heard farmers complaining

@finburke1 @BobFlavin This spring the issue was bad weather not drought. There won't be shortages as we are coming into irish production season for fruits and veg. Food service would be harder to find Irish produce than supermarkets

@BobFlavin @Conflats Agri exports from Spain are way down due to severe water shortages, which should be a warning to any state that wants to leave food production to market forces. The Iran war may well trigger food shortages in a few months so perhaps there will be no carrots in Irish shops.

@AnnaVanAwesome I'd take a guess and say it's the sheer volume that use the channel over and back to France. More bodies to split the costs on. Then it's shorter journey time so more trips per day.

How come it costs almost half a grand to use Irish ferries from wales to Ireland with a car, but less than a hundred for England to France via ferry Is this company prices or Irish government tax what’s going on with that

@SteveNomadic Why has the ULCC model failed in the USA? Ryanair (love em or loath em)are one of the largest airlines in the world on this model. They can get you around Europe for less than 50euros (once you follow their rules). Is it purely cultural differences?

This is ridiculous. Putting aside the full blown socialism, putting aside the high price of oil - pumping more money into a failed airline business model isn’t going to save the airline, it’s just setting fire to half a BIL of our tax dollars. Let them merge or let it die. Sheesh.
Brian Schwartz@schwartzbWSJ

SCOOP: The Trump administration and Spirit Airlines are nearing a deal where the U.S. government would put up to $500 million into Spirit Airlines stock warrants to try to save the company, leading to a potential significant stake in the company. @Conflats @LeoForde What i was told nearly 3 years ago now, was I'm not allowed use anything to trim back the hedges, that the hedges were to be removed and they would be in contact. If they expect me to pay to pull them and burn them, they'll be there for a long, long time waiting

This is fireblight in a section of hedging that didn't show any last year. I really am half tempted to just sit and wait to see just how long the Dept will wait before doing anything. Three years now and still not a word from them

@1noeloconnor @LeoForde As far as I'm aware control procedure for firelight is complete removal and burning of affected materials at owners expense. Or at least that's how nurseries are to deal with it.

@LeoForde It's incredibly annoying. I can't bring in a hedge cutter to trim back the hedges and briars in case I spread it but they've left it there for 3 years now and that's not spreading it? They're worse than useless, useless doesn't cause wanton harm

@CarthyRobbie @MadTaoiseach Not picking a side but once the tractor is capable of driving over 50km/hr it's allowed on motorways. But pissing off the ordinary worker thats trying to survive isn't going to win favour

A lad in work driving in this morning took 3 hours from Naas. No real issue with the time but when he tried to use the Hard shoulder to get off at his exit a tractor was swerving in and out of the hard shoulder to deter him. Idiots like that will cause a major issue #Fuelprotest

We CAN'T do the White House Shamrock shit this year for St Patrick's Day. If they must, go and talk and but not the fucking bowl thing. It was always bullshit but this year more than any, it would be Extreme Sleeveening.

Yesterday, my brother called me from the Netherlands, and as I was talking to him, a white lady told me to "speak English," so I turned to her and, as harshly as I could, I said in perfect English, "What the fuck did you just say to me?" I swear I saw her soul leave her body😂😂.

92.7mm is pretty ludicrous for Dublin in February only 12 days in. From 1981-2010, February was the driest month of the year on average before March took that title for 1991-2020. The wettest February on record (2020) had 130.4mm which is only 37.7mm wetter than 2026 currently.
Ronan McGreevy@RMcGreevy1301

We are not even half-way through the month and there's nearly twice the annual rainfall for February in Dublin already. Can't understand why there was no yellow weather warning yesterday for Dublin. It's been raining without stop for the last 36 hours.
