“As the situation devolved, Dexter Lawrence’s camp (agent Joel Segal) did not want to deal with general manager Joe Schoen, but Dawn Aponte and Chris Mara, with Schoen still involved, could not broker a deal. Segal forbade Harbaugh from speaking directly with Lawrence. That was a source of frustration. Thus, they never heard directly from Lawrence and Harbaugh’s force of personality could not be put to use. That might not have mattered, anyway. Money talks and thus Lawrence wanted to walk.” - @NYPost_Schwartz Sure sounds like a divorce between the Giants and Dexter Lawrence was inevitable. In the end, the Giants took the best potential offer with the Bengals offering the No. 10 pick in exchange for Lawrence.

@Gridiron_Media_ If Dex was available at pick 10 this year at his current salary, current age and coming off last season, you wouldn’t draft him.

I find it tough to believe that John Harbaugh would actually want to trade Dex, given the identity he wants to build for this team. Here's what he said about him at the combine: "He’s a cornerstone football player. Not really a cornerstone. He’s more like the middle stone. He’s right in the middle. He’s a very big stone and he’s a very active athletic stone. So we want him in there being a big stone."

"Dexter Lawrence didn't want to be a Giant" You can thank Joe Schoen and years of mismanagement for that.

It's year 5 of Joe Schoen and they are still trying to accumulate draft picks and trade proven players. Essentially, still rebuilding.

I love the Harbaugh hire. But this is such an obvious L to trade Dexter Lawrence. Unless you want another year of rebuilding and allowing 300 yards on the ground each week. Then this move makes sense.

Brian Burns at $28.2M/year is an absolute steal. Joe Schoen's best move to date is that sign/trade. Made possible by trading Leonard Williams. #Giants

BREAKING: The #Texans and All-Pro DE Will Anderson Jr. have agreed to a contract extension that makes him the highest paid non-QB in football, surpassing Micah Parsons. It's a 3-year, $150M extension with $100M fully guaranteed — that’s $50M per year. A new standard has been set.

@NYGiantsRush He represents a losing era. He won't be here the next time we win meaningfully. He's on a downward trajectory. He's clearly got a problem with the organization. While still effective, he didn't put forth his best effort last year. No need to keep players like that.

@Connor__Malloy This isn’t just any player. Hes been one of the best DT in the league for years and he’s a home grown guy. We replace him with the trash the signed in FA?

@rydunleavy Fuck him. If he doesn't want to be part of the turnaround, trade his ass. He can go show up to another team's training camp overweight and out of shape.

As I've been reporting all along, Dexter Lawrence is frustrated with the way the team has been run the last 3 years and what's been valued in the locker room. I still think he would take a big raise to stay with #Giants and be in their Ring of Honor. But this is personal.

“Dexter Lawrence’s trade request was not just an attempt for more money from the team. Two sources tell me he does indeed want out of New York.” - via @jjones9. It's not JUST about the money for Dexter Lawrence. He has other gripes with the team and wants a change of scenery.

@DDuggan21 Trade him and move on. The sad fact is he won't be part of it when the team is really ready to win again anyway.

Have seen the talk about guarantees and while obviously important, I don’t really think that’s driving this. It’s not like he’s worried about getting cut and not getting the $20M coming to him this year. Plus, he asked for a raise last year when he still had guarantees. I think it’s much more about a new contract that he believes reflects his market value (and obviously the requisite guarantees will accompany the new deal).
BaldBoy73@DCBaldBoy

@DDuggan21 Doubt Dex would entertain this, but would simply guaranteeing the last 2 years of the existing contract plus adding reasonable incentives be an agreeable solution?

Friendly reminder that during the #Mets seven-game losing streak, the club has scored 1.4 runs per game and the manager hasn't taken a single at-bat.

Nobody likes to lose but I saw some “ green shoots tonight “. On offense, Lindor had two hits including a home run. Bichette got a double hitting it to left field as opposed to recently being right field prone. Benge got a solid hit. Soto started his running progression today. Semien hit a shot that might have been a home run on a warmer night. Finally, Nolan McLean pitched an outstanding game going 7 innings. Hang in there fans, we will turn this around !
