I’m one of many worried Labour MPs who’ve now submitted Subject Access Requests to both Labour Together and the US firm it hired. Because the evidence is mounting this went beyond journalists and it points to something deeply troubling for a democratic society. If MPs & journalists were being monitored which the evidence points to, that’s not just wrong , it’s a fundamental breach of trust and democracy. So let’s be clear “naive” doesn’t come close to describing the actions of Labour Together. MPs have written to the PM & the General Secretary of the Labour Party for a full and independent investigation into Labour Together and everyone connected to it. No more dodging. No more silence.

You can’t budget better when there’s nothing to budget with. It’s as simple as that.

@MrNeilScott Thought this article was excellent. Really enjoyed the photos and narrative alongside. Bradford is a flawed place - but where isn't? - with a rich history and a bright future, it just needs the right conditions and requisite leadership. Both sport clubs doing well no bad thing.

🚨 New findings published today! 🚨 Graduates who grew up in deep poverty still earn £2,800 less than their peers 10 years on, even if they earn the same degree, and do the same job in the same firm. Read 'The long shadow' here 👉 buff.ly/5VfX2Fi

This photograph comes from the same strip of negatives as the one I featured yesterday and, we now know - thanks to research by Paul Hartley and Michael Horsfield - was taken back in 1967/68. It shows the old Brighouse Market, not far from where the bus station is today. This was back in the day when markets were markets (corrugated steel and light bulbs hanging by a wire), men were men (donkey jackets and flat caps) and women carried bags big enough to hold a stone of potatoes.

Exactly this, I don’t think people realise just how much more it would cost if I didn’t live at home with mam and dad. Yes, I get maximum UC and I’ve had DLA since I was about five (not transferred onto PIP yet), but it would cost a lot more than that to put me in a care Home. Also, if they want me to work, they would have to pay out a significant amount in Access to Work support, which is currently beset by cuts and backlogs anyway. In essence, the money I get now is literally the lowest amount it could possibly cost for me to have all my needs met.

PIP allows many disabled people to remain in work and live independently. I know someone who lost PIP, who then had to give up work and move into a care home costing over 70k a year. Great job DWP, what a saving!
