It is possible to hold two ideas that appear to be in tension at the same time.
Gig economy employers should absolutely be held accountable for exploiting workers. No question.
Gig workers should also be held accountable when they mistreat customers.
Well today brought A LOT to think about. FYI— unless I make a spelling error and quickly correct it, I almost never delete a tweet. You can see in my tweets and replies tab literally everything I’ve tweeted.
(Please don’t eat each other alive in the replies, comrades ❤️)
@offfwhiter@kroooooooss@raddraddish@JortsTheCat No somebody sticking up for themselves is definitely not wrong
The only person who's done wrong here is the people making baseless assumptions about people because they want to make themselves the victim of a situation that has nothing to do with them
@shreyabasu003 Funny how they all have no problem assuming the horrible woman was disabled but can't then extend that same courtesy to the instacart shopper
@kroooooooss@raddraddish@JortsTheCat Pretty sure I never said any of that. The tweet *ignored* disabled folks as if they don't even exist. It was a directed statement on a public platform that was totally unclear about who was being spoken about. People very legitimately heard the erasure of disabled voices.
@emmaleficent@archivesdork If you're applying something that a person said directly in response to who they're talking about to everyone on the planet, it's not the fault of communication, it's just you assuming s***
The real moral of the story is when you assume you make an ass out of you and me
@archivesdork Moral of the story: 1. All disabled ppl in the equation matter. Workers and non-workers. 2. Gig employers (& capitalism at large) are the enemy here for putting ridiculous constraints on workers & not providing what they need. 3. In activism spaces, specific communication is best
@emmaleficent@archivesdork That doesn't matter you don't get to apply that situation to another person without evidence
Just stop you look like an absolute child with this
@archivesdork I don’t give OP any benefit of the doubt, that’s why I said let’s forget the OP. The convo has widened more generally to be about disabled customers who HAVE been deliberately fucked over and that’s what I’m referring to.
