I don’t know if posting in X is valuable for academia anymore? Perhaps this is my last post. In any case, the final chapter of my PhD is now published! We used shipboard data to better understand how snow petrels associate with their marine habitat! doi.org/10.1002/ece3.7…

Important new paper led by @IMASUTAS PhD student Anne Grundlehner. The recovery of the Australian population of southern right whales appears to have stalled far below their pre-exploitation levels.
IMAS@IMASUTAS

Australia’s pop'n of #Southernrightwhales has grown substantially since the late 1970s when they began to recover from whaling. But a new study reveals troubling signs that could mark a turning point in the population’s recovery: tinyurl.com/4rd9uu2z

I have had enough of this platform. I am logging off permanently (at least for now). Find me on other social media platforms that are owned by slightly less disturbing billionaires.

It is not like we needed this officially confirmed: everyone who was paying attention already knew this. But here we are, official confirmation 2023 was the hottest year on record, and very close to the 1.5 degree limit we promised not to breach.
World Meteorological Organization@WMO

The #StateOfClimate in 2023 gave new meaning to the phrase “off the charts” by marking the warmest year and decade on record. Check out the full report: wmo.int/publication-se…

Having read the latest "save" utas flyer, do yourself a favour and drop it in the recycling bin and avoid the false hysteria. I don't recognise the uni they write about.

The Australian government just published a report on workplace gender equity. Everyone business with >100 employees were required to report their gender pay gap. @UTAS_ looks pretty good. I'm proud to be part of an organisation with almost no pay gap (but still work to be done)
