LaMelo very well could be a time bomb as well. All of the concerns are valid. I just think going for the ultra-talented guy who does things you lack makes way more sense than the sort of incremental nothing burgers most GMs in Connelly's situation would've tried instead.

My disagreement with some of these grades stems from the fact that I just sort of thought the pre-LaMelo Wolves were sort of fucked. Clearly not championship-caliber. Minimal assets. The Ant situation was gonna become a time bomb. They had to do SOMETHING like this.

@SamQuinnCBS It depends on Melo staying healthy and the FO finding a way to get bigger cheaper, since they traded their big forwards--that does not seem likely. As a Hornets fan I actually agree w trading him, it's smarter to build around Kon and Miller, last szn might be an outlier for Melo

It's the trade that gets Ant to the Finals or it's the trade that gets Ant to Atlanta and I'm not sure there's much room in-between. The bar in the West is insane. Everyone is probably losing to OKC or the Spurs anyway. But you're not beating those teams without taking risks.
