Not saying he can’t/won’t be good (I’m still higher on Zacch than the consensus), but taking a 3&D guy #1, even if you thought he was the safest bet due to a weak draft class, sets him up for expectations that we all know have never been realistic based on his particular playstyle
Said it before but he essentially had to become 6’9 Klay-lite or taller/more athletic Batum to not be questioned about his draft slot every day

Finely believe the worst thing to happen to Zacch as a draft prospect was to be taken 1st overall Doesn’t have the skillset and personality to set him up for success and to live up to the expectations of a typical #1 pick and the level of scrutiny that comes with it The conversation and pressure surrounding his career to this point would’ve been entirely different if the Hawks never jumped in the lottery, stayed at 10, and happened to take Zacch there

While i don’t think we’ll be worse next year im not sure how we end up high in the standings. Pacers and Heat should be better next season, Philly got better, NY/BOS/DET still gone be good, Toronto got Kawhi, and Cleveland should stil be good

OKC trading Lu Dort might be purely about the money. But finances could also be a convenient excuse.
Dort was borderline unplayable against the Spurs. He’s a shaky shooter. He’s never been a shot creator. And he may already be past his peak defensively. Plus, his minutes were blocking backcourt players who could end up better.
My gut says this move is the Thunder getting off a guy one year before everyone realizes they should.
