Chris that vote was on a Conservative amendment to the Children’s Wellbeing Bill. Voting against it meant voting in favour of mandatory abuse reporting, and in favour of grooming as a sentencing aggravator.
Labour then established a full statutory Independent Inquiry chaired by Baroness Anne Longfield with powers to compel evidence.
