They however said the following "REFEREE WAS ON THEIR SIDE LITERALLY" From that statement I'd expect to see that they were LITERALLY awarded no free kicks/throw ins etc in their favour. I’m a firm believer of leaving space in your mind for doubt, incase you call something wrong or make a bad judgement in the moment (aka accountability) & today is a great example to practice what I preach! As much as I still wholeheartedly stand by my disappointment with the police officer who looked at me like shit when I thanked him for managing yesterday’s hotel protest & offered my hand in appreciation to be met with crossed arms & a 50 yard stare, I could’ve handled the situation better. Humour & a calm presentation of previous examples of two tier policing would’ve been better, but after years of watching the police become more & more political, posing in pictures with jihadists, flirting at pride, BLM rampages treated with kid gloves & facilitating pro Palestinian marches where on occasions terrorists flags have been flown, I was immediately frustrated & slightly overzealous! I’m all up for impartiality, but that has to be across the board, not just when it suits! At a time where families are protesting against unvetted men being housed in their communities, where we’ve already seen horrendous crimes committed by some of the migrants being housed there, I suppose I was expecting the police to be on the side of its own people & sharing the same concerns. I was wrong. When you’ve been treated like a second class citizen in your own country for as long as we have, it’s extremely frustrating when your own police force don’t show any sign of loyalty. This is NOT an apology, as I’m not sorry, but it is a moment of reflection on how I reacted & in hindsight I should have ‘killed him with kindness’ instead. It’s also important to mention that on every other occasion where I’ve thanked the police at a protest, I’ve always been met with the same courtesy & YES they have always shook my hand & engaged in conversation, which added to yesterdays frustration even further. Anyway, that’s enough excitement for one day, time to get back to business… Good Health 🍻
