I've just received an email from the House of Commons confirming that on 22 June MPs will debate the calls for a public inquiry into pro-Israel influence on politics & democracy. The MPs owned by Israel will oppose it, but how many will be brave enough to back a public inquiry?

Itamar Ben Gvir’s conduct is entirely deserving of the censure it has drawn across Israel’s political spectrum, including from Foreign Minister @gidonsaar. Ben Gvir represents an extreme fringe, and his mistreatment of detainees is abhorrent, wholly unjustifiable and antithetical to the liberal democratic principles at the heart of Israel’s founding and the values that LFI upholds. His antics yesterday only further demonstrate why Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision to bring him into government was a catastrophic mistake.

He has now removed the post, but not before over 1,300 liked it and numerous people made very threatening and violent comments. This matter is now with our lawyers. Everyone’s condemning Ben Guvir. But if you admit that he is awful. Then by extension you have to concede the Israeli government does some awful things. He is the national security minister. He oversees the police. And the border police units operating in the occupied West Bank.
