If Council is pre-zoning Villages to streamline market housing, it should also require staff to show how social, co-op, or non-market housing can realistically be delivered in each Village.

Residents peacefully march. The Mayor’s Chief of Staff calls them “a mob of entitlement.” This is how City Hall views public participation, October can’t come soon enough.

@ncaddell I was actually born and raised in Edmonton but I was living in Toronto when I decided to move to Vancouver. And no where is blocking a bridge considered acceptable behaviour.

@CrashKate The majority of citizens in Vancouver hold the same belief. These people are not law-abiding. They are a nuisance and every single one of them should be fined for blocking the road.

@BCHockeyLeague @HockeyCanada would love your take on this. Is this the kind of inclusive and accessible policy that encourages children to get involved in their local association?

Do you think a local, volunteer run community hockey association for CHILDREN should be adding barriers to participation? For rep? Fine. For house league? Give your heads a shake! Their reasoning is so the children “look more professional”. This isn’t the NHL. They’re kids

@th3devilsbanker 2/2 build the roadmap for how this could meaningfully be delivered. Build the package so provincial and federal gov can support and subsidize the land. Our city used to get public good from added density. Now they’re just giving it away, no plan for affordability or land lift

@th3devilsbanker 1/2 I’m speaking specifically about the draft Villages plan in Vancouver, so you’re aware. Planning should do the work to identify where/how non market housing can be incorporated into each village. Name the potential site, possible non profit partner, plan for land acquisition.

@th3devilsbanker It really won’t ever have a chance if they make zero effort to incorporate it from the jump.

@CrashKate Non market forms of housing only work with subsidy and/or gifted (free) land. With that and site specific variances, non market can pencil in most neighborhoods. But the question of will it get built, depends on whether it’s the highest and best use. Which it never is

Voting has officially started. I have not changed my mind. I’ve doubled down & tripled down. I wish I could personally vote for Caroline Elliott. She has the knowledge, the class & the conviction to take down Eby. If you’re registered in BC, consider her as a top vote. She’s against: -Land claims -DRIPA -Land acknowledgments -SOGI -Drug addicts on the streets The first 2 points, are tearing BC apart & making it an uninvestable province. Caroline literally has a PhD in Aboriginal Self Governance. She will put an end to DRIPA & Eby’s nonsense. I was the first to endorse her. Because I see the long game. She has the “it factor” to pull those in the middle, into the light. I’m confident she will turn BC around. And despite her being clear in her positions, in the most unequivocal way possible, the best people can do to attack her, is say “she’s a Liberal”. If she’s a Liberal, then apparently so am I. She’s going to make an outstanding Premier. I hope folks in BC see what I see. I wouldn’t put myself out there for her, if I didn’t strongly believe in her. I hope others do too.
