Remembering Franziska Blöchliger: A White teenager brutally murdered on March 7, 2016, in Tokai Forest, South Africa. Timeline of the tragic events: - Around 3:00 pm: 16-year-old Franziska went jogging in Tokai Forest (part of Table Mountain National Park) with her mother, Shireen. They split ways; Franziska ran a route expected to take about 25 minutes while her mom waited at the car with the family dog. Her younger sister was nearby at a bus stop. - 3:30 pm: Franziska had not returned. Her mother grew worried and called her husband, Florian (Franziska’s father), who drove from their home in Muizenberg to help search. - 3:40 pm onward: The family searched frantically, driving routes, shouting her name, and calling police. Florian even received a silent call from Franziska’s stolen iPhone, hearing only a child screaming in the background. - Around 4:15 pm: A community search party mobilized. Franziska’s body was found in the fynbos, roughly 150 meters from the meeting spot, near the edge of a path. Her body was still warm. Injuries and cause of death (per court testimony and post-mortem). Franziska was overpowered from behind, robbed (of her cellphone, earphones, diamond ring; watch also missing), bound with shoelaces around her wrists and mouth, and dragged into the bushes. She suffered: - Vaginal and anal r!pe. - Blunt force trauma. - Manual throttling/strangulation (hyoid bone in her neck fractured). - Suffocation. Her face was pushed into the sand/ground while being assaulted, with sand and blood found in her airway and lungs. This was the final cause of death. She was choked unconscious but still alive before suffocating. Her father later described seeing her body beaten so badly her eyes appeared unable to open, with extensive injuries indicating a vicious, prolonged attack.

The election results today have clearly been tough for Labour. I’m sorry that we’ve lost so many brilliant Labour colleagues across the country, and thank them for their service. And I’m sorry that so many voters felt unable to vote Labour at these elections. @Keir_Starmer has taken responsibility and committed all of us to delivering on the mandate the country gave us at the last election. The Labour Party shouldn’t waste a minute of the time we’ve been given to get on with that job. If we turn inwards the public will think we’re walking away from that challenge. The next election will have unity or division on the ballot. A Britain built for all, or a Britain for the few. Britain is at its best when we come together and rise to the challenges of our time. And Labour is at its best when our values of equality, collectivism and unity power our project for the British people. We can deliver a better Britain in the years ahead and beat the prospect of division at the next election, but only if we come together, get on with the job and face the future.

Labour was elected to change this country. That is what the public want, and what they deserve. Tough days like today don’t weaken our determination to deliver that change. They strengthen it.

The ANC governs with such criminal negligence and corruption that your house becomes unsellable and worthless in a broken metro, while bankrupting you with astronomical increases in the prices of mandatory municipal levies and taxes for services it does not render.

The City of Johannesburg has proposed a steep hike in the levy charged to households to receive water. The water demand management levy is set to jump by 66% from July. enca.com/news/joburg-pr…

While ANC pushes to expropriate SA land, Zimbabwe will return 67 farms seized from foreigners from four European countries covered by bilateral investment pacts, the country’s agriculture minister said, as it seeks to mend ties with Western countries while it battles for debt relief and Zim citizens eat rats , cats and dogs.

Trump Derrangement Syndrome is a fascinating phenomena. It has changed my perspective on so many people close to me as I watch them unravel in normal conversation around a braai, descending into pure unsubstantiated, illogical, hateful humanbeings - just bc they don't like the personality. Not one have been able to articulate the root cause for their TDS with facts. Not. One.
