@LukeForCoulsdon It's a sad day for Croydon politics when a politician like Luke blatantly lies on LTN fines and tries to blame others for his own party actions. The cameras were only installed in October 2022, 5 months after Tory Mayor Perry was elected. Perry made the decision to install them.

@CllrIanParker Grants Shapps, during Covid, funded Active Travel programmes across England included these schemes in Croydon. I had been a councillor for Dalmally Road, (before boundary changes) and stopping rat running was and still is popular.

@RowennaDavis They were introduced by Labour forcing traffic onto main roads, increasing congestion, lengthening journeys and fining local people for driving on their own streets. They were championed by Sadiq Khan, imposed with very little consultation with local residents. Good riddance!

@JamesDHillam James, the physical barriers were introduced as part of Grant Shapps Active Travel funding during Covid. Tory Mayor Perry took the decision in September 2022 to change them to Camera enforced fines.

@BBCTomEdwards The Mayor of Croydon didn't inherit these schemes. There were physical restrictions in place before he took office. Mayor Perry made the decision to install CCTV under temp traffic order in Sept 22.ade permanent in 2024. See the traffic orders he would have had to approve.

Croydon's Tory Mayor Perry's wheeze includes a political message within the emailed 2026/27 Council Tax notification to resident. Looks like his team didn't check the word count, nor basic formatting. Result: a garbled message that cuts off half way. Very apt for this Mayor.
