I, too, could open a city-run grocery store in NYC with lower prices for food than existing neighborhood grocery stores if I had $30 million in taxpayer dollars and no property taxes and reduced construction fees and favorable permitting and also the city would need to take away current subsidies from those existing grocery stores so they could subsidize my prices while manipulatively raising prices for my competition and oh yeah I’m also gonna need three years to build it. How on earth can it cost $30 million and three years for the NYC government to build a grocery store in Harlem? There are *dozens* of grocery stores for sale, all over New York City, for less than $5M. Many are less than $1M. This seems like a scam. (or vanity project)
