Ripple’s architecture is explicitly aimed at banks that want to modernize fast without ripping out their cores so hearing they are stressing out is nice It gives large banks a way to “flip on” tokenized payments, custody, and cross‑border settlement using existing cores, while XRP gives them a neutral, non‑stablecoin asset they can warehouse for liquidity and collateral without touching 404’s retail‑yield minefield and worrying about the genius act and asset status(commodities). Regulators are trying to channel liquidity into stablecoins as pipes plus tokenized T‑bills/credit plus non‑stablecoin collateral, rather than wild west yield on stablecoin balances. Banks are racing to rebuild the same functions they already own (deposits, payments, collateral, custody), but on new rails, before someone else captures those layers. They are trying to keep the money in their ledgers. Keep you in bank deposits and bank‑distributed funds, where they can still run fractional‑reserve lending and earn net interest margin. For something like RLUSD it is easy to bypass. You can providing RLUSD as LP capital in an AMM or lending it into a margin facility where it is actually at risk can earn you rewards/fees. Getting RLUSD rebates for routing payments, remittances, or card spend is fine. RLUSD can be used inside real liquidity and collateral functions on Ripple’s rails, and those flows can pay you fees or rewards. They already have a multitrillion dollar market. NOW. You give banks, primes, and sophisticated users RLUSD‑based liquidity venues on XRPL, while staying inside 404 by keeping every reward anchored in actual flow or risk, not synthetic deposit interest. UNDERSTAND THIS IS VERY STRUCTURALLY DIFFERENT THAN USDC AND TETHER!!! USDC and Tether are issued by firms that do not themselves own a settlement L1 and a vertically‑integrated set of payment/FX/treasury markets. They rely on third‑party exchanges, DeFi, and banks to build use‑cases around them. So they have a whole other step they have to complete, build markets! They have to persuade, ripple has to just simply do. RLUSD has a home field while USDC/Tether are mostly “raw material” that other venues have to build markets around. The law doesn’t privilege Ripple(😉), but structurally it makes Ripple’s integrated approach more interesting. Ripple mainly has to execute on integrating RLUSD/XRPL into real, bank‑scale markets THAT THEY ALREADY HAVE while USDC and Tether have to PERSUADE other people to build and host those markets for them. THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!
