@CFBKnights Our home attendance at rayjay last year was 33,194. The stadium will hold 35…when students only have to walk over from their dorms, we won’t have any problem selling out home games…

So curious to see how full that stadium will look after the first 1-2 year’s excitement of having a new stadium dies off, outside of like a ranked Memphis or Tulane coming it’ll be tough. Not to mention will ND and Louisville actually play there? Or will they play only at RayJay?

The Church predates the Bible, the council defined the faith and built the Bible to affirm the faith. This means that the church can survive without the Bible, but the Bible cannot survive without the church, which would mean that the whole premise of my scripture alone is completely flawed.

I've been talking to my 15 yo son about discerning "bad fruit" in teenage girls. So far we've talked about: - gossiping - foul mouth - overly flirty - self-centered - bad music choices - prideful / boasting - immodest clothing - posing seductively - can't take correction - looking down on others - history of many boyfriends - dissing marriage/having kids What else are we missing?

Your post indicates ur understanding of the Old and New Testament as well as church history. It misses the core issue and proves the very thing Scripture explains about itself. The root issue here isnt the “pettiness” or “humanness” you see. Its trying to judge a divinely inspired book with a purely natural mind. The Bible itself warns why this wont work: “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor 2:14) That verse perfectly describes ur conclusion….calling it petty, ignorant and entirely man made. Its striking how accurately the Bible predicts this posture of the unbelieving heart. The Bible is very human….written by real people in real history with their culture, limitations, emotions and literary styles. Christians have never denied that as we believe the Scriptures are God breathed penned through chosen men (dual authorship 2 Tim 3:16). Whats extraordinary is that the Scriptures were written over approx 1600 years across three continents, in three languages and by 40 authors who for the most part never knew one another and yet it forms one unified cohesive story? The Old and New Testaments certainly belong together as the New constantly quotes, fulfills prophecy and explains the Old. Jesus Himself treated the Old Testament as authoritative Scripture that testified about Him. Its one continuous story of creation, fall and redemption…..not two random books “lumped” together. From a natural perspective ur points sound reasonable but according to Scripture its completely wrong and miss the deeper reality. The flaws you notice….the violence, laws and human drama are part of the honest record of a holy God dealing with broken humanity. Its not a polished fairy tale….its a mirror of our real condition. Plenty of people have read it skeptically and come away convinced. Others havent. Thats the spiritual discernment 1 Corinthians 2 is talking about.

@ManifestHistory I recommend the reading plan The Bible Dept. put out. It has an accompanying podcast by Dr. Manny Arango. His insight is invaluable, imho.

I’ve finally decided to read the entire bible. So far, I’ve read Genesis and Exodus. I’m obviously really interested in reading the Gospels and New Testament. I’m debating skipping ahead to the Gospels. What do you recommend I do: Read the bible from front to back or skip ahead and read the Gospels (or entire New Testament) and then go back to the Old Testament.
