We don’t have one. So unless they’re willing to nuke the filibuster, ALL legislation ends up heavily compromised. Thune is our problem.

Most Republicans do not fundamentally disagree with this post. Constitutional carry across state lines sounds great in principle. The problem is that Massie has turned performative purity politics into a brand. This bill is never passing. He knows it. Everybody in Congress knows it. So what ends up happening is he gets to slap his name on legislation that makes for great social media content, gets applause from the podcast circuit, and lets him say he’s “fighting for freedom” without ever having to do the hard part: building coalitions and moving legislation that can actually become law. That’s the disconnect people are tired of. We sent Republicans to Washington to enact policy, not just introduce bills that die in committee so somebody can fundraise off the talking point later.
