@MN_Ament @freda646 @BrianSuttererMD @stevemagness I think what's important is supporting them competing in correct sex category. After knowing about DSD, Erik(a) Schindegger competed successfully in Euro races. However, national team wouldn't support him. This is where we need to improve.

I don’t think the sports world is ready for how many unexpected positive tests they are going to find if every athlete is tested. Especially anxious to see how this plays out in sports like women’s basketball, where genetic gender testing isn’t done If they are truly going to do genetic testing on every female athlete, guaranteed there will be unexpected positives that will have a major life impact in the athlete who may have had no idea.

@BrianSuttererMD @hecheateddotorg IOC said if SRY detected, then further testing. It's an initial screen. For the few conditions that could apply, further testing AND counseling/ support.

@hecheateddotorg Oh so it’s testes and not the Y chromosome? Because surprise…you can have a Y chromosome but no testes. Which is that?

Transgender issues in sports are simple. Until they aren't. My thoughts on today's Olympic news will hopefully add at least some empathy to how you see these issues while we continue to improve fairness and safety in sports

@BrianSuttererMD @Scienceofsport Isn't there known males w DSDs or Trans in women's soccer (football) in US? Also potential for CAIS males that would be allowed? Overall, identifying DSDs early is best for individual athletes.

Yes - but the positive screen is enough to alter their world. I’m not talking hundreds, I only expect a small handful, maybe less than 5. I believe in Atlanta it was 7 or 8? But all it takes is one in a sport that previously wasn’t at the forfromt of these issues. That’s the scenario I’m referring too - for example a WNBA player or soccer player

@Jeniwren00 @FondOfBeetles @BrianSuttererMD Women, actually. Cïs women who were born as little baby girls with a vagina. It is possible that some might have 5ARD, in which case I agree that they probably have an unfair advantage, and probably shouldn’t compete. Some might have CAIS and have no advantage whatsoever.

@TheSilverFoxed @sharrond62 The IOC rules allow for further testing of individuals with SRY gene that want to compete in female category. Said they would allow individuals with CAIS & some other rare conditions. Would not allow individuals w 5 ARD (Caster Semenya) which experience male puberty.

Castor Semenya & all the other 5ARD male DSD athletes who have unfairly taken medals & opportunities from females will no longer be able to do that. And they are not females with unusual levels of testosterone but males with male levels! Time to tell the truth…

I had my sex screening test in 1976. I was 13. It took 10 seconds (cotton bud cheek swab, needed just once) it was not intrusive. The ioc did it, & paid for it, in Montreal. Result returned almost immediately. But well before I raced. There was also wada anti doping-mandatory

💨 Windy tonight 💨 Winds could gust above 40 mph from now until midnight. Not expecting many power outages, with most trees still barren. Hard to lose power in March. Different story in the fall!

@Pyth_of_Samos @slyther3 @Jasmine_Keith Remember that's a state average with many counties (particularly in Eastern Washington having lower than average taxes even with large agricultural industries). If done at county level might see different trend.

@slyther3 @Jasmine_Keith Riddle me this. If Washington has a spending problem why are we ranked smack dab in the middle of the states for overall tax burden? Utahans pay a higher percentage of their income than Washington.

Washington democrats pass a 9.9% income tax on “millionaires” and the same day the CEO of Starbucks announces his family is moving to Florida. Just after they announced they were moving their HQ to Tennessee. There’s been rumors of very disgruntled Seahawks players. And Mariners. How long before we see those leave too? The Dems had projected this tax was going to solve all their problems but what happens when there’s no millionaires left to tax? Oh that’s right….it’ll fall on everyone making any income.

@KSeattleWeather In some ways not as dramatic as being on 22nd floor of bldg formerly known as the Wells Fargo Tower (east of Federal blfg). Water was sloshing in toilets.

That was Canton, OH, officer Brandon Momirov in Aug 2024. He ran up & kicked Jaemiier McElroy (21, kneeling w/ hands up, appearing to comply during a group arrest) in the chest. Momirov was fired Sep 2024 for use-of-force violation but reinstated April 2025 by arbitrator (reduced to 30-day unpaid suspension; no just cause for firing due to scene chaos). Back on duty since. No criminal charges.

@CuriosACStewart @salltweets @SwipeWright I read that the mom actually took Erika to the doctor because she never seemed to enter puberty. But no conclusion was drawn, and no referral to a specialist. THAT is weird, and I think impossible today in the Western world.

Alejandra Caraballo, a Harvard Law School clinical instructor and trans activist, is unable to make sense of my position regarding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. So let me clarify. I don't care how Khelif thinks about himself. I don't care if he maintains or abandons his female identity after taking a chromosome test. All I care about is that he not compete in the female category, because he is not female. He is male. That's my entire position, and I've articulated it many times. It really shouldn't be difficult for a Harvard Law School instructor to understand.

@R_undrar @salltweets @SwipeWright The earlier equivalent. I came across years ago when I was coaching downhill racing (kids). Film + I think some written material posted. Story helped understand how these situations can happen (particularly in rural areas) and other circumstances.

@R_undrar @salltweets @SwipeWright He was very good. His time as woman was similar to top males. His Europa Cup records as male were impressive. I realize many of the athletes being discussed now may not be competitive against men. I think that athletes should be welcomed to compete in correct sex category.

@CuriosACStewart @salltweets @SwipeWright That's his story anyway. I kind of wonder if he really was that good, or if that mainly was something he wished was true. Haven't read that much about him though. Can't read German.
