@tanyia @SirBylHolte It's not a fictional story; it is a myth. And -as any educated person knows- there is a hell of a difference between the two. Helen may or may not have existed; we simply don't know. But she is depicted in Homer's epics as a queen of Sparta, thus she definitely wasn't Black.

Let’s see if I have this right: Black Helen of Troy and Black Clytemnestra are the daughters of Leda, who is said to have snowy, alabaster skin, and a white swan (Zeus in disguise). They are literally the only black elite in all of ancient Greece… yet somehow nobody in Sparta or Troy ever notices or mentions it. And King Menelaus marries this black Helen - completely outside his race - and no one bats an eye? And Paris, a Trojan warrior, is so hot for her he steals her from her husband - and no one back home in Troy bats an eye when they see her? Same with Clytemnestra marrying the Greek king Agamemnon - ZERO cultural or racial issues? And fun fact: Clytemnestra doesn't even physically appear in the timeline of the poem, as she is ALREADY DEAD. But their brothers Castor and Pollux stay fully Greek, and again, nobody notices the mysterious racial mismatch in the same family. Here's the thing: Ancient Greeks were notoriously xenophobic about outsiders, especially when it came to upper-class marriages and preserving bloodlines. Yet in Nolan’s version, none of that matters. Just "putting black women in places they never would have been," because...MAH RACISM. Is this REALLY the story Christopher Nolan expects us to swallow?

Γλώσσα meant both the tongue and the language, in ancient Greek; check Homer's epics. Ψάρι is not an ancient Greek word. Οψάριον is. Μαλάκα is most certainly not an ancient Greek word.

There's ample historical evidence that they existed, and they most certainly were not black. Ergo, Helen -the queen of Sparta in Homer's epics- wasn't either. QED, right?

For instance, she translates the word πολύμητις -which means cunning, crafty, resourceful or shrewd- as "liar" She doesn't translate the word; she distorts its meaning. As a classically educated Greek, I take issue with that.

Emily Wilson completely changed the meaning of a key word in the Odyssey to make it seem like Helen of Troy didn't blame herself for starting the Trojan War, when in fact the text makes it clear that she did. In 4.145-146, Helen calls herself κυνώπιδος (dog-faced). This is an insult meaning "shameless." It is commonly used to refer to unfaithful lovers. For example, it is used elsewhere in the Odyssey (8.319) to refer to Aphrodite after she cheats on Hephaestus with Ares. Fagles translates 4.145-146 to: "all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake, shameless whore that I was.” Lattimore translates 4.145-146 to: "for the sake of shameless me, the Achaians went beneath Troy, their hearts intent upon reckless warfare." Wilson completely changes the meaning of κυνώπιδος to "hounded" (she is trying to be cute by translating 'dog-faced' to a word that still relates to dogs, even though its actual meaning is completely unrelated). She then applies this word to the Achaeans, saying that they were hounded, not Helen. Her translation is in the image below. This is obviously an ideological change that she made because she personally believes Helen shouldn't be blamed for the Trojan War. She deliberated distorted the meaning of one of the foundational texts of Western literature to conform with her modern beliefs.

Νομίζω οτι έχει πια ωριμάσει η σχέση μας για να σας διηγηθώ για τότε που οντας φοιτητής αποφάσισα να αλλαξω διαρρύθμιση στο δωμάτιο μου και άλλαξα την πλευρά που ακουμπουσε τοίχο το κρεβάτι μου. Συνηθισμένος λοιπόν το επόμενο πρωί, με το που χτυπησε το ξυπνητήρι πετάχτηκα στα αριστερά να το κλείσω. Εεεεεελα όμως που πλέον αριστερά δεν ήταν το κομοδίνο αλλά ο τοίχος! Απο το χτύπημα βγήκα νοκ άουτ και σηκώθηκα αρκετές ώρες μετά. Σαν να μη συμβαίνει τίποτα. Άνοιξα μάτια... Έπιασα το κινητό... Είδα την ώρα και κατάλαβα ότι ειχα χάσει το μάθημα. Δεν θυμόμουν να χτύπησε ξυπνητήρι. Δεν θυμόμουν τιποτα. Αφού έβρισα το κινητό που δεν χτύπησε, πήγα στο μπάνιο να πλυθώ και με το που έφτασα μπροστά στον καθρέφτη είδα τη μάνα όλων των καρουμπάλων αριστερά στο μέτωπό μου. Κάπου εκεί ααααααρχισαν να έρχονται εικόνες από έναν τοίχο να πλησιάζει απειλητικά, έναν κρότο σαν γκονγκ και μετά να μαυρίζουν όλα. Το ίδιο απόγευμα ξαναγύρισα το κρεβάτι όπως ήταν.

@head_knucleGR @angie22gr Δεν συμφωνώ με τον όρο που χρησιμοποίησες. Τον θεωρώ, βλέπεις, ιδιαίτερα επιεική😂 Συμφωνώ όμως ότι ο Τσίπρας δεν έχει αλλάξει. Παραμένει ένας σκληρός μαρξιστής, ένας λύκος που φόρεσε προβιά προβάτου. Τον προδίδει όμως η μυρωδιά του, τουλάχιστον σε όσους έχουν μύτη και μυρίζουν.
