@Amimej2026xae @Alonso_GD @AlexCrawfordSky What does one Islamic Regime Proxy have to do with another? Well, quite a lot actually. But, nonetheless, I’m not suggesting it’s clear that Hezbollah will decide to share the military rank of their journalists à la Hamas, only inquiring as to the Dunkish perspective if they do.

The attacks @AlexCrawfordSky has received for correctly stating the applicable legal standard regarding journalists in armed conflict is very disheartening. It shows that the forces of propaganda are numerically larger than the forces of information. But they will still not win

@Amimej2026xae @Alonso_GD @AlexCrawfordSky Well, first of all, because the funeral pictures in full camaflouge are suggestive of it. Secondly, extrapolation from the fact that Hamas has recently, in the course of publicly celebrating their martyrs, released the name rank and serial number of many of their journalists.

@NogahSenecky @Alonso_GD 1/2 Apparently the Dunkster is altogether uninterested in whether or not the the site did, or did not, lose its protected status by way of Hamas firing rockets from it, and whether distinction and proportionality were, or were not appropriately and lawfully applied.

@Cutman4567 @Alonso_GD The burden of proof here - and lets be clear, it's a significant burden - is on the people doing the killing, not on those who were killed. It isn't our job to "cross-reference". If evidence exists, feel free to provide it.

@Mr_Andrew_Fox Just curious Foxy, but given the number of other eras and countries listed in the comments here you don’t feel compelled to either refute those examples, if you’re able, or issue a mea culpa here?

Uh oh! Did somebody try speaking truth to power? In any other era/country, it would be a big deal to fire the head of the Army *during an ongoing war*. Just another day in Trumpland.

Scoop: @SecWar Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, sources familiar with the decision told @CBSNews.

@Alonso_GD First of all, someone clearly did not attend to the ranks listed in the Hamas confessionals. Second of all, you know very well that Israel took extraordinary measures to minimize the number of civilian deaths. That many nonetheless died is a terrible tragedy and Hamas War Crime.

Michael here is justifying exploding a 2 month old baby, his 18 month sister, and 18 other human beings seeking refuge in a church because - and pls read this carefully - maybe there was a random Hamas grunt in the area. What the fuck is wrong with you???
Michael Cutler@Cutman4567

@Alonso_GD When you say no evidence was found, you cross referenced these claims against the Hamas confessionals, I mean martyr notices, in which, in dozens of instances, the claim that no military target was present was invalidated by Hamas providing the name, rank and serial # of the🎯

@Alonso_GD So, in other words, you’re fairly certain it’s not the case that no evidence exists. You know it’s quite likely that there is in fact such evidence and that even if it hasn’t been posted yet, it will be soon. How does the Dunkster proceed? Good old fashioned name calling…

@Alonso_GD If so, given the rate at which Hamas seems intent on proving these sorts of claims false, did it occur to you it might be prudent to pause for a moment and wait for the next few episodes of Hamas Admits It All to air…

🚨 An Israeli source says: We have recently proven our value as a key ally of the United States - one that provides not only stability but also significant operational and intelligence capabilities. American bases in Israel could create a strategic advantage for both sides.
Raylan Givens@JewishWarrior13

🚨 JUST IN: Israel is expected to offer to the US to consider establishing bases on Israeli territory. The intention is both to relocate bases from other parts of the Middle East and to establish new bases to take advantage of the presence of US forces already here.

@ElliotMalin Infrastructure vital to the Iranian war effort can be lawfully targeted, knowing it will impact civilians, so long as the impact isn’t disproportionately felt by civilians?

People keep saying this is a war crime, but that's not entirely accurate. It *might* raise to a war crime if this is indiscriminate and the power plants are solely for civilian use. He doesn't say much here, at least not enough to say one way or the other. Very well could be.
OSINTdefender@sentdefender

President Donald J. Trump has posted to his Truth Social platform warning that if Iran fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the US will begin targeting Iranian power plants. The message was posted at 7:44pm EST.

@sam_elks @aziz0nomics Yes, ofcourse, but the blame for not doing so does not rest entirely on Qatar. Biden, and later Trump, not only didn’t demand it, but it seems opposed them doing so for the sake of “negotiations.”

@William05920949 @Mr_Andrew_Fox Dresden was unquestionably a legitimate military target because it contained countless factories crucial to the German War Effort, just as power plants are crucial to the Iranian War effort. In Dresden though civilians weren’t warned and provided an opportunity to flee.

@Mr_Andrew_Fox Sir, on one hand you may be right. However,If enough Israeli or American civilians get killed, then the legal rules of war will be ignored. Survival is more important than made up rules. Fire bombing of Tokyo and bombing of Dresden come to mind. Iran threatened to kill millions.

Iran misfiring a missile that didn’t come close to hitting Diego Garcia isn’t proof that they even have the ability to hit the base. Also for them to be an imminent threat they would have had to have intelligence that Iran was planning to attack us first. Are you arguing North Korea is an imminent threat? They have the ability to hit the US with nukes. So does China and Russia. Your argument is absurd.

The IRBM attack on Diego Garcia should be a wake-up call, and gives a lot more credence to the notion that the threat from Iran was truly "imminent." But the debate about imminence has been somewhat ridiculous from the get-go, and it's a product of a pretty obvious category error. In the civilian context, the law of self-defense requires that the person claiming the privilege be faced with the "imminent" use of force against them. There's an obvious reasons for this: if the use of force is not "imminent," that means you have time to call the cops. The law tries to minimize vigiliantism because the monopoly of force is supposed to be held by the state. But since the state can't be everywhere at all times, people are allowed to defend themselves and others from the imminent use of force. For example, say you discover evidence that your enemy has contracted out a murder-for-hire against you, to be completed at some point in the next week. Are you allowed to go to that person's house and kill him in cold blood? No. While the threat of deadly force was real, it wasn't imminent, and you could (and should) call the cops to have him arrested. Now, if the hitman shows up at your door, you can use deadly force, because of course that is an imminent threat. That logic doesn't work in the foreign affairs context. Once you find out that a foreign nation is trying to build a nuclear capability while calling for "death" to your country, there's no international law police you can call to arrest them. So the idea of waiting to defend yourself from an inevitable threat until that threat is *imminent* is ridiculous.
