Gotta say something. I'm the most optimistic I've ever been about the state of Bitcoin DeFi on Cardano. 🟠🤝🔵 This is no longer one project's marketing narrative, but an ecosystem-wide movement to redefine Cardano's "killer app" next to the one digital asset where it all began. Now I've heard many suggest that Charms has many "competitors" building at this intersection. I don't agree much with that. While there are indeed other projects building Bitcoin bridges, each project is also building systems BEYOND just bridges that are highly complementary to each other. @CharmsDev has built a protocol for building any app or asset on either the Bitcoin or Cardano network, written in mainstream languages, that is cross-compatible between both chains. eBTC is one example of this, and there will doubtless be more Bitcoin-related assets and cross-chain dapps built by the community and us. @FluidTokens is building its own Bifrost Bitcoin bridge, but its chief product is a lending/borrowing platform on Cardano. They also have other cool products like Aquarium, for creating dapps where you can pay your Cardano gas fees in non-ADA tokens (like bitcoin). @SundialProtocol is cracking at a hybrid Bitcoin / Cardano L2 for scaling both chains, targeting the creation of institutional-grade Bitcoin yield products that can boost ecosystem TVL. @pogun_io is an initiative aiming to launch a credit marketplace where Bitcoiners can borrow against their BTC without margin call risk, and where lenders can comfortably deploy USD liquidity into that market. They also have a BitVM-style Bitcoin bridge planned further on their roadmap. @vesprwallet is Cardano's most popular mobile wallet, and is soon to also integrate Bitcoin. Finally, as of this month, there is @OrionFund: a Cardano ecosystem fund managed by @DraperDragon that is specifically planning to deploy into Bitcoin DeFi projects as a core focus. Miss me with your Cardano FUD on the timeline. There is a very real wave of projects concentrating and coordinating their efforts to pave Cardano's future in orange. And yes: we're finally, actually shipping. See you tomorrow morning! 🌅

Charms is trying to make Bitcoin useful without making Bitcoin something else. In my chat with @AThrouvalas from @CharmsDev , the interesting bit was the design: Charms is aiming to move value from Bitcoin to Cardano and open the door to BTC DeFi through a UTXO-native approach. If that works, it matters for both ecosystems. What part of Bitcoin DeFi still feels overhyped to you?

@jpvegas21 The answer is that it’s not even a rounding error. Also the fact that there is no publicly verifiable easy way to see the answer to your question should be all the proof anyone needs that Iagon is not decentralized.

That ticket, and your entire booth at Rare was paid for by IOG... Imagine running a project and not being able to afford a booth at Rare Evo. I remember you needing a free booth from IO last year, which they kindly paid for, and gave you, with that booth came many tickets, one of which you gave to Riley. I also remember you begging for a ticket to the VIP close-out party, not getting one, then breaking into the VIP close-out party at Rare without paying for a ticket and then getting kicked out by event staff. Then after you got kicked out, you bribed some random event staff (the door guy) to give you a bracelet so you could go in. Goblin behavior.

No, we absolutely do not. Iagon is not decentralized storage, it’s centralized, the Iagon team has discussed the centralized gateway many, many times. There is a reason that the Internet Archive is stored on Filecoin. There is a reason that Flickr Foundation, Starling Lab, and USC Libraries all use Filecoin. There is over an exbibyte of data on Filecoin, 35M+ active storage deals. We live in reality, not fantasy land. Let’s not pretend that Iagon is a serious player in the world of decentralized storage. Iagon isn’t even a rounding error in the storage market.

IOG's subunit @pogun_io just pitched a ~$3M treasury withdrawal to fund its end-to-end Bitcoin DeFi solution on Cardano. 🧵 It includes a credit facility, a yield app, and a Bitcoin bridge. There's much to like, but also much to improve to make this really deliver for the ecosystem. My thoughts... 1) The P2P credit facility is the single best part. Bitcoiners fundamentally want to borrow/earn on their BTC without selling it. This product would let them do so WITHOUT getting a margin call due to short-term volatility. That's just the sort of unique, killer app that Bitcoiners would love and which would drive liquidity to Cardano. I HODL BTC myself, and I'm telling you I'd use this. (credit @__fallen_icarus). 2) The yield app I am mixed on. I like the concept: to make providing USD (stablecoin) liquidity to the loan book seamless and easy, to boost capital efficiency. But we lack details on how exactly that works on-chain and where the tradeoffs lie. We need a more concrete plan here, as it's the most challenging part of this product. Fundamentally, liquidity provision is more complicated here than on a traditional lending pool app, because lending is not "risk-free." So you need a way to abstract away the complexity as much as possible while still providing optionality to stablecoin lenders so they can choose their risk profile. 3) Leave out the BitVM bridge. Integrate alternatives. It will be an inefficient use of time and treasury money to try building the BitVM-based 1-of-N optimistic style bridge that we hoped for since 2023. BitVM turned out to be way harder to build on than anyone thought. So many projects (including my old one!) promised to build one in this cycle. They didn't. I recently spoke to an expert on Bitcoin L2s / bridges who informed me that NONE of the BitVM bridge projects have been delivered except one - and even that one is on training wheels and is really a 3-of-5 assumption. We should get back to basics here. A sufficiently decentralized honest majority bridge with the right incentives in place works, is close to impossible to hack, and can be shipped extremely soon. We have eBTC at @CharmsDev which is on Cardano *right now," with UI for everyone to start sending their BTC to Cardano to be ready in a few days. Not just us either - @FluidTokens already has fBTC on testnet, and that's quite a compelling bridge solution as well. I think the Cardano community is very well connected and will have a remarkable ability to coordinate our efforts if we try. Pogun is an initiative that several projects building at the Cardano X Bitcoin intersection can rally around. Teamwork is the best answer to really make this pop and get it shipped on time. But that's just my 2 sats. 🟠

Strategy is such an insane opportunity IMO, because even most crypto native (including Bitcoiners!) don't get it yet. It's not just Coffeezilla calling the company's STRC "Ponzi-like" and "too good to be true." Several Bitcoin industry founders I've spoken with are adopting the same language in private conversations and have even suggested that the inevitable "blowup" of Strategy will be the end of Bitcoin. They don't understand that a traditional blowup can't happen: STRC carries no redemption rights (no 'bank run' possible), the company's Bitcoin is not used as margin (no liquidations), and STRC dividends may be lowered, and even suspended. We shouldn't be asking how STRC will blow up, but rather how it's WORKING despite the FUD and how it's generated such high demand in bear-market conditions. I believe Strategy is pioneering an entirely new category of 'asset-backed financing' and synthetic asset stability that doesn't require direct redeemability. Eyes out for more products that build upon these ideas - including in the Bitcoin DeFi space.

We've been buying more $BTC through $STRC lately.
