I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it. I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.

Because, right now, in modern America, the executive and legislative branches always obey judicial rulings, and never impeach judges. This means that the only constraint on judicial power is imposed by the judiciary's own diminishing self-restraint. This is not democracy or republicanism. This is kritocracy, from the Greek: kritēs “judge” + kratos “power or rule”. It doesn't have to be this way. Judges, by themselves, are nothing but sedentary old people. They can enforce nothing. But they have built for themselves an image of being neutral and above politics, even as they engage in absurd mental gymnastics to make sweeping policy decisions that no one voted for, and to pursue nakedly ideological agendas. @nayibbukele warned us, many years ago, that an unrestrained judiciary can nullify any government action, regardless of its popular mandate. If we allow this to continue, the entirety of United States politics will gradually be reduced to nothing more than a struggle to pack the judiciary with cronies. It doesn't have to be this way. By the law, judges serve "during good behavior". All we need do is decide that wild, nakedly partisan reinterpretations of literal text are not good behavior.

@RupertG87170562 While I agree, I'd argue most people hide these deep, personal underpinnings from ones they are close with, and even hide them from themselves.

Which is why such a relationship shouldn't be sought out or provided lightly. It should arguably only be an option when it'd be even more unhealthy and dysfunctional to have such interactions with actual family and friends. It shouldn't be used as a surrogate for them, though.

Therapy is a radical and extreme division of labor, where a therapist attends but doesn't care, and judges but is beyond criticism, while a client complains endlessly, and abandons their own judgement. Which seems an unhealthy and dysfunctional version of family and friendship.

"hacking" the semantics is just "finding security vulnerabilities" in people that outsource their own thinking.
