Sadly lawyer @IRPlawyer also appeared on this news piece, and while technically correct in her statement about level of autonomy and what legal and illegal in BC, she misses the point point that Tesla Autopilot and FSD are Level 2 by SAE definition and fully legal in BC. This is a case of misuse of a system, not use of a system that is illegal. It is also entirely possible that she did get into this while being interviewed and it was edited out so @CTVVancouver could keep a certain narrative that FSD = bad, but in reply to our other post she appears to believe that FSD is Level 3.

This only gets better. The same RCMP officer that emailed me below saying I was confused about Level 2 vs Level 3 gave an interview on @CTVVancouver proudly proclaiming that FSD is illegal, and that just because you talk to your friends or talk on social media about it and that it is available, doesn’t make it legal (or safe) and that we should “do some research into the law.” Respectfully sir, you are the one that needs to do the research to ensure you are enforcing the laws appropriately. Tesla’s FSD is SAE Level 2, which is FULLY LEGAL to use in BC - with due care and attention.
