@gpatrickhubbard Hi Patrick, yes! But they can’t obey what they haven’t been taught (Mat 28:20). Good teaching always has formation as the goal, but learning is the first step toward obeying. And the commands live within the context of 66 books. Bible literacy matters, and most don’t have it.

This is why churches need to reclaim active, dedicated learning environments. Preaching is essential. Community is, too. But learning happens best when we are asked to do work and dialogue. Great Commission faithfulness depends on the disciple learning so he can teach others. /1

Of all the learning methods, lecture is the least effective (5% retention) of them all. If this is the case why do we still do so much of it in the church?

Such comfort in this truth about the doctrine of perseverance:
“God causes us to persevere by actively working in what we need to keep walking with Christ.”

“What is lacking are people to present the afflictions of Christ to the world- no matter the cost.”

Early each morning since we were married ten years ago, my precious husband has texted me a few verses from his time in the Word. Then he tweets one of those verses.
Last Tuesday, he posted this tweet. The next morning he was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia. Sunday he was placed on a ventilator. Tonight we continue to wait to see what the Lord has planned for him and for us.
I can’t think of a better verse to take into the New Year. Thank you, my beloved. The Lord is our Helper. We are truly blessed. 💖

This is an excellent and sobering response.
Listen, then go share the gospel with a neighbor. Pray fervently for your lost friends and family members. Give your life so they might have LIFE.
Oh, Father, here am I. Send me.
