Watching this in real time was so cool. Here’s something I’ve never noticed before: Gordon Hayward definitely commits a lane violation on Kobe’s FT for 60 just in case he missed, right? There’s no way that’s not what he’s doing here, the double step looks absolutely purposeful.

What if the game winning shot... never came down? Exactly what happened to Mercy. Down 2 in the final seconds against Canandaigua. And the shot just died on the rim. Can't remember seeing a ball just stop. And not being stuck. Let alone in a buzzer beating situation.

@BrandonBeck4 Don’t know if you watched him at Georgia much, but it is 100% what felt true at the time. He had entire games where his impact just didn’t exist. You knew the talent was there, but the passion seemed to be inconsistent at best. Obviously not true! Projecting teenagers is hard!

Couple of things from this final play… 1) Ryan Williams ran a good route. Seen some ask about or criticize it. This wasn’t on him. 2) VanDeMark getting driven back 5-6 yards didn’t give Ty the ability to step into this throw. Big reason why Ty couldn’t drive it in there and it came up short. 3) No guarantee Ryan makes this play, even if Ty could’ve gotten more on it. Peyton Bowen does a nice job reading it, but Ryan would’ve at least had more of a chance.

generally speaking the Onion is at its best when mocking the left and the Bee is at its best when mocking the right—it’s much easier to write good jokes about a culture and a group you understand

@ArmandDoma The early origins of the Bee were amazing for this exact reason. It was poking at specifically the evangelical community it was part of, so the nuance to the jokes was outstanding. Very hard to take that brand of humor to a large scale.

The Bee has a lot fewer bangers than the Onion for many reasons, but a major one is that the Onion is way more comfortable skewering the left than the Bee is skewering the right

Every great Oats team has had a similarity: the 90-second gamebreaker run. Game is usually close… then BAM: something like 3-steal-dunk-miss-3-miss-and 1 and the game is just over. Can come at any time in the game, but sweetest at the end. That’s what hit SJU yesterday.

@suricidal I’m an Alabama football fan. When we were basically inevitable for a while because of both our defense and offense, opponents took to saying that we played “joyless murderball”. Pretty much what Arsenal is doing now. And yes, it’s VERY fun to be a fan of it!
