@GMB The WI is welcome to rebrand itself as the “people’s institute”, but doesn’t get to play it both ways. Allowing trans-identifying men to join both violates women’s spaces (to appease a bunch of entitled men), and discriminates against men who are not trans-identifying.

A trans woman, who has been a member of the Women's Institute for nearly 10 years, is being forced to leave after the organisation decided it can no longer offer trans women membership. The W.I. will restrict membership to only those born female from next year, because of a Supreme Court ruling that defines a “woman” as biologically female. Rowena Purdy says she accepts the W.I. must follow the law, but wants the government to revisit the ruling so medically transitioned trans women can continue attending.

Trans people be like, “Hello women, let me invade women’s prisons and shelters to rape the occupants, and call for your death by torture if you object in any way”….and think they’re the ones being victimized. Just stay out of women’s spaces. It’s not that difficult.

I'm not a Tory, but she deserves credit for that. FWS should never have HAD to go to UKSC. My old party @UKLabour are now blocking the UKSC

Baroness Falkner is right to speak up. What troubles me most is the culture she describes where feelings replace facts and where activism subverts impartiality. A culture where public bodies ignore the law because they fear social media more than they respect the people they serve. I've given up on Labour doing anything correctly on this issue. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but surprise, surprise... they were just telling people what they wanted to hear. For years, too many institutions forgot that equality depends on truth, not ideology. The Supreme Court has now restored that truth. Sex means biological sex. Women’s rights exist in law. But the Government’s refusal to publish clear guidance has created confusion across the NHS, councils and businesses. That uncertainty hurts women most of all. Britain can do better. We can uphold women’s rights with confidence and support trans people too, without denying reality or doing stupid things. This is not about Left or Right. It is about whether Britain still has the courage to tell the truth and protect the vulnerable. I do. Labour clearly does not. And the country deserves leadership that will put evidence, fairness and common sense back at the heart of equality. Only the Conservative party can do all of that.

@edgeofbarkness @KemiBadenoch I would respectfully disagree. Tories had an opportunity to legislate to clarify the absurd situation emerging for the last 10yrs+. They failed to legislate, it got left to UKSC to clarify the Equality Act - now down to Labour falling over themselves not to upset the far left.

@hermitsholiday @BBCNews Yes, I did, thanks. Went back to check if I missed the massive section on cross-dressing, and all it does is make passing references to gender identity & transgender. LGB individuals have been persecuted for decades; forced coupling with trans who now play at being the victim.
