@SamuelGavin I say anything can happen. Trends will change. I'd argue while its not a superhero movie I'd say The Last Jedi is an example of extensive introspection being allowed, though it works at a different pace. The Batman is pretty meditative too.

It’s a really beautiful movie that stops dead in its tracks to have a thirty minute introspective interlude (positive).
Unfortunately, it would never get made today, and it’s doubtful it will ever happen again.

The best thing about Spider-Man 2 that I keep thinking about recently is how tender it is. So much struggle and exhaustion in the story, and yet the lighting is painterly. The cinematography is delicate when it needs to be. Characters speak softly and are allowed to just FEEL

@DCFlashshill I still think it's the best movie from Marvel anything. Really nails the essence of being a hero, as in going through day to day struggles while lifting others up. That anyone is capable of doing that.
