DC Police have arrested a suspect in the brutal robbery / murder on Rhode Island Avenue NW earlier this year. A second suspect has also been identified, but not currently charged (suspect #2 has a history of mental illness and is incompetent to stand trial). The council is both soft on crime and in denial of its existence. Let’s not forget there still has not been an explanation for the alleged manipulation of crime statistics from MPD following @GOPoversight preliminary findings / DOJ report last December

I am deeply disappointed by the Council's decision to allow the juvenile curfew zones to expire. We all want our young people to be able to socialize in age-appropriate ways and in environments that are safe for themselves, for their peers, and for the entire community. But as adults, we cannot abdicate our responsibility to respond to behaviors that put young people or our community at risk. I urge the Council to reconsider. My full statement:

Those who target law enforcement officers will be identified, apprehended, and held accountable. Asheile Foster, 22, and Darren Foster, 21, fled the scene, but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement. This office will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law to ensure they face the consequences they deserve.

Asheile Foster, 22, and Darren Foster, 21,  brothers who reside in the District of Columbia, were charged with multiple counts today in connection with the March 23 shooting of a U.S. Park Police Officer.     The Fosters made their first appearances today before Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Rodney Baggott is a clear example of the danger repeat offenders pose to our community. Yesterday, District Court Judge Reggie Walton recognized that danger and sentenced Baggott to life in prison for the senseless murder of Rasheed Abdullah. This is justice for Abdullah and a good thing for the people of the District.
