Jake Bennett pitches a 6.0 inning scoreless 1-hit gem. His ERA pushes down to a 2.35 in his 9 MLB starts. He will probably be 2nd in the ROY voting behind Kevin McGonigle. And 8 months ago, Bennett was a Washington #Nats top prospect and Paul Toboni traded him to his old team.

Command is the last thing to return post TJ surgery. They’re banking that it will and if it does watch out. If it doesn’t he’s a reliever and probably a good one.

@TalkNats When the Nats/Yankees game was delayed last Friday, Nats TV went to Luis Perales start against Woo Sox. Perales is not close to MLB ready; Despite throwing harder than Bennett, Perales has serious command issues, while Bennett appears to be a young version of Foster Griffin.

That article never mentioned James Wood (see attached). People had also set Community Notes that people failed to read. This is how bad rumors get started and spread.

@TalkNats That's the thing here with going by a preplanned script and no deviation outside the lines. That's bad baseball Toboni. You nearly blew another game because you won't color outside the lines. Yean shouldn't have been optioned. Henry shouldn't have been optioned.

Yes, the plan all along was to burn Cole Henry for 2.0 innings of work and immediately ship him back to Triple-A. BUT sometimes smart teams pivot in the moment. Did you see what Cole Henry did in just 13 pitches in that 7th inning? He was electric. Yes, bring him out for the 8th inning but pull him at 1st sign of trouble and bring in PJ Poulin. Instead, manager Blake Butera had Henry nearly blow the game and throw 31 pitches in that 8th inning and give up 4 runs and you had to go to Clayton Beeter to get the final 4 outs. Did Butera learn anything from the meltdown in San Francisco? 🤔
