@johnmoe People are quite passionate about both sports and the players in sports - losing a favorite player is sad. However, this is good advice from a health perspective, the risks from repeated head injuries in the NFL are well-documented and substantial.

Getting mean personal comments on this and I honestly don’t see why. Isn’t talking with your brother less painful than football? Do people think I’m threatening their love of football? I’m not. Guess it’s just the ugliness of Twitter.

@cyclegaz @justsimonr This is the way. Patience, massage the tire OUT (and INTO when putting back on) of the bead. I recently changed a Marathon and this worked. Took twice as long as usual and four times as many curse words.

@justsimonr Make sure you are pushing the bead into the middle of the tyre and work it around to get some slack. These tubeless ready rims are made to a very fine margin and you need everything you can get to get a tyre on.

A nuanced conversation going on at r/Portland about the state of Downtown. DT is busier than it has been in years, and parts are doing better than pre-pandemic. OTOH some areas are much worse than ever… and those areas are near a lot of hotels and therefore what visitors see.

Today I learned that a close friend of our family has taken his life from depression. Let his passing remind us that depression is a brain disease, not a personal shortcoming. Psychic pain can be more overwhelming than physical pain. Anyone who has felt this kind of pain knows the depths of suffering a human can sustain. If you feel this way, please know there is help. Reach out to friends and family. Establish an alliance with mental health professionals. Let people know your feelings. Know you are not alone. Know it is not your fault. Get the help you need. Things can get better. They may never be perfect, but the heaviness can be lightened. May our friend rest in peace, and may his passing help others in need find support.

@Jonathan_Maus @MacPolice Seems like there is a case for menacing ORS 163.190. "A person commits the crime of menacing if by word or conduct the person intentionally attempts to place another person in fear of imminent serious physical injury." = car + yell= threat

Seems to me you shouldn't be able to claim "free speech" when someone yells out of a moving vehicle intentionally to scare someone & then they crash and are injured as a result. cc @MacPolice
