Many @MTA riders wear masks due to poor ventilation, high levels of viral illness & pollution in NYC. We ask our officials to fight for public health, instead, @RitchieTorres is proposing a mask ban that would discriminate #immunocompromised visitors/New Yorkers. #StopMaskBans 💔

@DrNeilStone I’m glad we managed to avoid it for this long, but I’m angry because the masking worked, but because asshole kids at my child’s school, their asshole parents, and several asshole staff at the school were bullying my child, my child was afraid to mask, & this wound up happening.

@DrNeilStone Unfortunately, I wound up getting covid for the first and hopefully last time just before thanksgiving. My child became inconsistent w/masking because of bullying & wound up getting it from school, and infecting me, and my in-laws. My husband did not get sick at any point./1

@freethinkerftw @Biff248824 I believe the main ingredient in covixyl can potentially increase risk of stroke if memory serves correctly. We stopped using it a while ago when I read that and switched to Nasitrol. Covixyl stung anyway….definitely not a pleasant feeling even if it was somewhat effective

@Biff248824 I have been using Covixyl while traveling. Any reasons you would suggest that I switch to something else that is available in the US?

@Biff248824 We use Nasitrol in our house as an added layer - it also has iota-carageen. We were using another spray called Covixyl, but stopped using it as the main ingredient seems to cause other potential issues. Which is fine that we stopped because it stung anyway….

@cobysworld1 @texasrunnerDFW I do find it fascinating to see. At the same time it’s up to parents to set limits, and make sure your child is doing more than just playing online. For the parents who don’t, idk if it’s just laziness or what, but allowing a child unfettered access to online play is not good./2

@texasrunnerDFW As a Teacher this is what I see… kids see their freedom and happy place as being with their friends online. Where in past freedom= a car or work or an apartment. As long as kids can chill online they are not going to develop.

This may be a controversial post but I am part of this parenting demographic and I see it Out of all Gen X and Millennial parents I know, roughly 1/4 have at least one child under 21 that I really can’t envision being able to function in society independently when they are 30 This is true across multiple socioeconomic levels and regions of the country. It applies evenly to both genders of children. It is not strictly a parenting issue, because many are in families where their sibling(s) are thriving or doing just fine Some of it is due to an increase in children with notable disability or disorder (those diagnosed with Autism, severe anxiety, ADHD, etc) Some of it is just, I don’t know, a fragility, inertia, or failure to thrive that seems to permeate a sizable portion of Gen Z and Gen Alpha To function in society means able to get and keep a job, make social connections, structure days with a schedule, prepare meals, budget, make decisions, pay bills on time, drive a car, rent an apartment, clean. Basic life skills. I don’t recall this phenomenon being so prolific in past generations, and I’m not entirely sure what changed But SOMETHING did change. And it’s alarming to think a material portion of the next generation will require ongoing financial or general life support from their parents or siblings (paying their bills, providing housing, driving them places, preparing meals, making doctor appointments, etc) well into middle age What happens when their parents die?

Although, I see it as the Gen Alpha equivalent of waking up, & knocking on your friends door at the crack of dawn to play, except it’s almost easier access now since it’s done virtually/1

@brooke_urself22 @Leftfieldmike My company’s physical office is in that area so there’s been many times I’ve cut through Times Square over the holidays and have seen the ball just days before it dropped. And that is a cool enough experience for me.

Lived my entire 31 years in New York City and never for a second would I consider going to Times Square to watch the ball drop. You would have to be completely out of your mind to even think about it…
