These people were not skinny they were lean and athletic with good muscle tone, bone structure, and posture. They don’t really exist anymore due to modern food and weightlifting trends so people now are either very muscular, very skinny, or fat. This is normal and healthy.

When I was 214lbs and eating 4900 calories a day, I was a furnace. It didn’t matter what the temperature was outside. Now that I’m 199lbs and eating 3,000 calories, I’m freezing when it’s 63 degrees out. Being lean and cutting problems.

A few things: 1. It’s more important to decipher the impact on SMM 2. What is the protein intake of those in the trial? 3. What is the resistance training routine of those in the trial? And ultimately the real question is: What is the SMM loss for a bodybuilder or someone with a serious weight training program and a diet high in protein compared to the fat loss?
