Her viral videos exposed the outrage: families suffering for basic needs as multimillion-dollar hotels were built. The government responded with harassment, surveillance, internet cuts, smear campaigns, and repression for "inciting" protests. Prohibited from moving freely, persecuted, and barred from re-entering Cuba, Amelia was forced into exile in Spain in 2023 with her family, seeking stability for her children after years of pressure and intimidation.
