@nixcraft The big question is what Anthropic's finances look like. None of them want to talk about it, and when we do get a glimpse (ie openai through microslop's books) it's always huge losses. My guess is that Anthropic needs more investor money just like most "AI" companies do.

“The Fourth Term” Cartoon of Franklin Roosevelt by Leo Roche 1939... This cartoon was published in 1939 when Franklin Roosevelt was already in his second term and preparing to run again. The United States had never seen a president serve more than two terms. George Washington set the precedent voluntarily by stepping down and everyone after him followed that unwritten rule. Roosevelt broke that pattern. Critics feared he was becoming too powerful. They wondered if long tenures would turn the presidency into something more like a throne than a temporary elected office. The cartoon shows a progression panel by panel. In 1932 he speaks to “my friends.” By 1936 he still addresses friends. But the final boxes flip the tone sharply. If he gets elected again the cartoonist imagines him speaking to “my subjects” and eventually “my slaves.” It was meant to suggest that if Americans let one individual hold power too long democracy could decay into monarchy. Even though the imagery is exaggerated that fear was real at the time. Roosevelt would go on to win a third term in 1940 and a fourth in 1944. He died early into that fourth term. Roosevelt’s four terms directly led to the 22nd Amendment being passed in 1951 which legally limits future presidents to two terms. © Historyfeels #archaeohistories
