It is long overdue to remove the hereditary principle for membership of @UKHouseofLords and time to reform the Lords by electing members of a second chamber. Such reform was promised in 1911 "only in this House could 113 years be considered too short a time to agree the details"

2024: Nigel Farage is upset at the Chagos islands being handed back to Mauritius, saying it was advisory opinion and "there is no legal reason why we have to do any of this" 2015: Conservative David Lidington confirmed that the Brexit referendum would be 'advisory' After the referendum Farage said, "Not to leave the EU would be a massive betrayal of democracy" So in 2024 an advisory opinion is not legally binding, but in 2015 not delivering on an advisory referendum is a "betrayal of democracy" 🤷‍♂️

Today, I questioned the Prime Minister on his plan if Donald Trump abandons our brave Ukrainian allies. If the US won't support Ukraine in its fight against Putin's war machine, the UK and Europe must – and we should use frozen Russian assets to do it.
