It just weeks ago when we ducked and covered at the White House Correspondents Dinner as we heard shots ring out.
Last night a man approached a Security Checkpoint just outside the White House, took a gun out of a bag and fired shots at officers, according to Secret Service. Officers fired back, killing the individual. Secret Service personnel were not injured but a bystander was struck by gunfire.
Officials say the suspect has a history of incidents involving the White House.
I was preparing to go live for World News Tonight when I heard the flurry of shots ring out. We ducked and covered, then Secret Service yelled for us to sprint to the White House Press Briefing room, where we were locked down. @GMA
